Managing staff is one of the most difficult tasks employer have, and it is becoming increasing difficult for employers as a result of increased workplace obligations.
Recent Court decisions have made it clear that employers must be proactive and understand their obligations. The consequence of breaching workplace laws can be devastating to businesses with penalties often in the 10's or even 100's of thousands of dollars. Whether it be in relation to award wages and conditions, harassment and discrimination or unfair dismissal claims, employers must get it right.
As a member of ACWA you have access to telephone advice in relation to these issues, in most cases at no cost. If you are not sure of what to do in any given situation ring the ACWA Industrial Relations Hotline before you act. Most problems can be sorted out with proper advice but undoing something that has already been done can be difficult and costly.
