Well, it is the beginning of another New Year and here we are facing another year of change. That may sound depressing to some. However, I do believe we need to embrace change to continue growing as healthy human beings. Change involves many parts of our human soul and requires some sort of will-power. Whether we are working on a committee, trying to complete a project with a team, or we are at home attempting to teach our children how to move forward in a positive manner with changes at school. Believe it or not a change does occur one way or another.
Let's face it; some types of changes are easier than others. For instance, facing a new job by choice, versus facing a new job because of the economy. This involves reaching out to outsiders other than our Facebook page community, or the people that we tend to hang around. Social communities on the computer are wonderful and can provide a great deal of support. However, these groups which we navigate towards are ones that think like us and have some of the same interests. Looking beyond ourselves involves being, open to other's opinions and ideas. Generally, we tend to grow when we are exposed to other opportunities and ideas that we do not yet feel comfortable in our thought process.
Trying something new can be exciting and bring a fresh new way to look at issues and life. Think about all the experiences we have had in the past that was a stepping stone for how we process ideas today. I can think about my first time skiing and how frightened I was in the beginning. Yet, once I mastered the bunny hill my quest was for bigger geographical area. We can embrace those thoughts when we work in careers and in our personal life. So this year don't be stagnant....rather be innovative, problem solve, listen to your colleagues (family) ideas with an open mind and hopefully they will embrace the example set forth. In the end when you are innovative you become the winner with a positive experience which no one can take from you.
If you would like to know more about this subject, I can do a Keynote presentation at your next meeting or a half or whole day on the subject.
I'm working on being innovative this year, how about you?
