Dear TPCA Parents
The Board of Directors has passed 2013-2014 Student Fees policies, and we will be assigning the student fees to all students who have re-enrolled for next year with a due date of May 3, 2013. Fees and payments for 2013-2014, which can be paid now online* or to the office staff, will soon be viewable through your Parent Portal in Infinite Campus. Please pay your High School student fees separately from your K-8 student fees. Thank you, in advance, for your prompt payment and for partnering with us in the education of your student.
BJ Buchmann
Principal
*RevTrak personnel will be adding the 2013-2014 fee options for us ASAP. In the meantime, you can make online payments for 2013-2014 by clicking Student Fee, inserting "2013-2014" in the Comment Section, and paying the new amount. Please see the attached Fee Information and Policies form.
Question: Why are there student fees at TPCA? Isn't public education supposed to be free?
Answer: There is actually a student fee schedule for all of the SVVSD schools (JQ-E). As a public charter school, TPCA receives 94 percent of the state-provided per-pupil revenue rather than 100 percent. Six percent is retained by the SVVSD as a condition of our charter. In addition to employing a top faculty, TPCA covers all of its own mortgage, facility, and land costs. When you chose TPCA for your student, you chose to be a vital partner in your student's education. As a result of this parent/school partnership, Twin Peaks students receive an education similar in quality to private schools which charge tuition ranging upwards from $5000 per year.
To obtain an exceptionally excellent public school education for their students, charter school parents pay more in student fees, provide student transportation, and contribute to the school program in various volunteer roles.

No More Ziplock Lunch Bags!
Celebrate Mother Earth as the PTO partners with Eco-Cycle for our first-ever "Zero Waste Lunch" on Earth Day, Monday, April 22. From kindergarten to 12th grade, we are encouraging students who bring cold lunch that day to use only reusable or recyclable lunch items, such as cloth sandwich wraps and snack bags. We are also encouraging elementary-school parents to attend the event by bringing a zero-waste cold lunch of their own.
Eco-cycle has graciously agreed to provide composting and education services that day as well, so come and learn how you can take simple steps toward a "green" lifestyle. To learn about "zero waste" alternatives, visit www.ecocycle.org/ecostore. If you have questions about or wish to volunteer at this event, please contact Heather Mundt at heathermundt@mac.com or (303) 774-1829.
