TCAPs

Transitional Colorado Assessment Program (TCAP) Around the State and Across Twin Peaks

It doesn't seem possible that the TCAP (formerly known as CSAP) is right around the corner!  As we at Twin Peaks prepare for this round of testing, parents can do the same. Please take note of the TCAP testing schedule when planning vacations, doctor's appointments, or any other elective absences. Please avoid test days as all students in Grades 3-10 will be tested in the areas of reading, writing, and/or math.  Grades 5, 8, and 10 will be tested in science. The Grade 3 schedule is shown below as their reading assessment is always first. Remaining test days for other grades will be March 11-29. Make-up days will be provided within this time period but again, these are not optimal testing conditions to enable students to do their best work.

There are many ways to support your student(s) for the events of test days: provide a HEALTHY breakfast on testing days, ensure your students have a full night's sleep, and remind them of the importance of the test. With your support, our students will demonstrate their true potential.

Parent /Student Handbook

TPCA  encourages and welcomes parents to visit their child's classroom. For reasons of security, all visitors must enter through the front doors on the West or East side of the building, sign in at the office reception window, and wear a visitor tag. The visitor tag must be worn at all times when you are on the school grounds. Upon leaving, visitors must sign out.

PTO NEWS and EVENTS

FEAST with FANG Mascot

Parents, mark your calendars and attend the March 13 PTO meeting at 5:30 p.m. The grade that has the most parents in attendance at the meeting will get to have our mascot, Fang, join them in the cafeteria for their lunch hour. Fang is looking forward to giving out lots of high fives and hugs to the kids who can get their parents to the PTO meeting!

REMINDER

Don't forget to check out the requested donations on the classroom doors. Please take a star or two and help teachers and staff restock supplies for the second semester. Thank you!!!

SMART JEANS DAY

PTO's next Smart Jeans Day is Friday, March 1 for students in grades K-8.  The cost is $1 per child for the day.  Place the money in an envelope with your child's first and last names and have them give it to his/her teacher. Students must still wear dress code shirts, shoes and socks.  Please continue to help PTO support our students.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION

Continue collecting and turning in your Box Tops; each one helps!  The classroom that turns in the most Box Tops by February 22, wins a popcorn party.  The current leader for the popcorn party is Mrs. Miloradovich's class, and Mrs. Fetters' class is a close second. For the classroom that turns in the most Box Tops for the year by February 22, the teacher will win a spa gift card, and the class will win a popcorn party. The current leading class is Mrs. Casanueva's class.  Remember to label the bags, collection sheets, or envelopes with your grade and teacher's name so your class gets credit!

They combined forces with their guest conductors and top student musicians throughout the district in an outstanding performance at Longmont High School.

Further kudos go out to Adrienne Jacobi and Aileen Ma, TPCA representatives in the St. Vrain Honor Orchestra. They also presented a super tour performance with their all-star colleagues earlier this month. Way to go, ladies!
