VOLUNTEER REQUESTS

Volunteers Needed for MS Valentine's Dance

The Middle School Valentine's Dance is coming on Friday, February 15! Mr. Birch and the Student Leadership Team need several parent volunteers to help with set-up and decorations, supervision, food service, and clean-up. The dance, for 6-8th grade students only, will be held in the Commons and the Cafetorium from 3-6 p.m. Set-up and decoration crews will need to arrive much earlier. There will be a planning meeting for any volunteers sometime in early February. Please respond to Mr. Birch if you can help during the dance:  birch_brian@svvsd.org or 303-772-7286. Volunteers Needed to Sell Re-Loadable Grocery Cards

The PTO will be selling re-loadable Safeway and King Sooper cards during Parent-Teacher Conferences, Thursday, February 7 and Friday, February 8.  We need a few volunteers, in one hour shifts, to assist. 

THURSDAY: 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m.

FRIDAY: 2 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5 p.m., and 6 p.m.

Volunteers Needed to Organize HS Booster Club 

Did you know that we are in need of a Booster Club for our high school? Are you looking for an opportunity to fulfill your volunteer hours and raise support for the school? Would YOU be interested in helping to organize the Boosters? The Booster Club will help support the needs of the students both in and out of the classroom. Volunteers Needed to staff Election Booth

Volunteers needed, in one hour increments on Thursday, February 7 and Friday, February 8, to staff the Board of Directors election booth.

Re-loadable Grocery Cards for sale

King Soopers and Safeway Re-loadable Cards will be available for purchase in the West Lobby next week during Parent-Teacher Conferences. King Soopers cards are $5 (with a $5 balance on the card); Safeway cards are $10 (with a $10 balance on the card).  TPCA earns 5% of every dollar that you load and reload on your cards!

 

Box Tops for Education

Our two Box Tops contests are coming to an end. The K-8 class that turns in the most Box Tops from October 27-February 23 wins a popcorn party.

The K-8 teacher who turns in the most Box Tops by February 23 earns a $50 spa card.  All Box Tops already turned in this year count towards this contest.

 

Remember to collect and turn in your Box Tops by February 23, and don't forget to label you teacher's name on the bag/envelope or collection sheet.

READING IS A THRILL!

2,000,000 Minutes

Reading Challenge

 

READING CHALLENGE:
We are getting closer to our K-6 goal of 2,000,000 minutes read before February 22.  Remember, every student who reads 1,800 minutes will be eligible for the drawing for a Kindle or a Leapster. 
  
Twin Peaks students read and recorded their minutes for the month of January, and we are pleased to announce that the total for our third recording period was 1,490,630 minutes!  Way to go Timberwolves!

In order to keep everyone healthy, please observe the following guidelines and keep your student home if she/he exhibits any of the following.

  • Colds / respiratory viruses
  • Strep Throat
  • Chicken Pox
  • Pink eye
  • Open sores on skin
  • Generalized skin rash

A student will be sent home from school if she/he has any of the above conditions and/or has a temperature of 100.1 degrees F. or more.

Do you have Longmont Dairy products delivered to your home?  If so, collect the plastic tops from any of their beverages and send them to school, because each one is worth 5 cents!

Ask your family, friends and neighbors to collect theirs as well, and cash for TPCA will start to stack up!  There will be three collection boxes available, one at the WC Office, one in the WC Cafeteria and one in the EC Cafetorium. If you would like more information, contact Maura Youle at 303-776-7106. TPCA Yearbook

The last day to buy your TPCA yearbook is February 8, 2013. 

The cost is $50 for the middle/high school book and $25 for the elementary book.  

 
Tutoring by High School Students returns February 11

Tutoring by high school students returns on Monday, February 11.

Third-8th grade students are eligible to be tutored by TPCHS students on Mondays from 3:10-3:55, in the high school. Parents/guardians of elementary or middle school students should contact Lori West at west_lori@svvsd.org to have their student placed on the tutoring list. 

Your student may be picked up on the east campus at 3:55. Any other arrangements must be made in advance with Mrs. West.
