Summer is coming to a close; soon, but not before the last days of August where I will be in Highland Park, on the north shore of Lake Michigan, outside of Chicago. Then comes my annual journey out to the west coast to the Sausalito Art Festival. My sixth year in a row, and my favorite one of the year. The four day drive from Chicago, pulling a trailer loaded down with new work to show, is as relaxing as it is a tiring drive. For once this summer I'm not in the studio or preparing for the next show, I'm traveling, and enjoying the sights along the way. I usually take US90, through South Dakota, hit the Badlands, travel down through Wyoming to Nevada, enjoy the salt flats, and finally to California! And a new show in Huntington Beach.. finally do a show in SoCal, where I'm from, before returning to NY, and the last of 4 shows on the east coast.

Armonk Gracie Square, and the Bruce Museum, home at last, and I hope all those who visited my shows this summer in the Hamptons can come and check out what is new from California.

The beaches in Encinitas, CA are truly a paradise. Wide sandy beaches, and if you know where to go, not very crowded, parking is accessible, without cost, or minimal.
I have been going to these beaches since I was a child, and go back often to Swami's, Moonlight, Beacon, Stone Steps and Ponto. I am a local, but don't try to tell that to the new comers who see my New York plates. The great thing about many SoCal beaches are the bluffs that adorn the beaches. You hike down to the beach, and it keeps many away, who prefer to park and walk out to the ocean. My photography represents what I find refreshing in life, the open sea, the sound and smell of the ocean.
