I'm back from Texas, although it was an eventful journey to New York. First off, a major hail storm hit coming out of Austin, and practically destroyed the skin on my trailer. The SUV didn't fare a whole lot better. I'm in good hands with Allstate. Then I lost an axle in Virginia, the wheel actually caught on fire, good thing I was not in the middle of nowhere, where I am much of the time on these trips.

Next, I have a couple shows down in the DC area, and then out to Montauk, NY over Memorial Day. It's a welcome relief to be around my home base, and a market that works well for the ocean/beach environment that kicks off the summer season.  The image above has a sign posted warning bathers that they may encounter nude bathers past this point. Haulover Beach, just north of Miami, is a legal nude beach, that hovers under the high rises going up in Sunny Isles.

Lifeguard History

It all began in the year 1912, when the YMCA started a National Lifesaving Service. In 1914, Commodore Wilbert E. Longfellow organized the American Red Cross Lifesaving. According to Yahoo, lifeguards worldwide save more than 100,000 people annually.

40th President, Ronald Reagan: Reagan began his work as a lifeguard in 1926, and he is believed to have saved 77 lives over seven summers.
