Greetings and Happy New Year to all my collectors and friends that have signed up for my email newsletter. 2013 promises to be another year of exhibiting my work throughout the country at many of the best juried art shows. The season starts down in Florida, where I'll be headed in a couple weeks, gladly getting out of the cold in the northeast. Last year was truly a great year for me, at many shows from coast to coast and I plan to revisit many of those festivals again, and add several new cities to my schedule. I will be updating my website with locations as juries are announced, as well new images that I will be showing. Last November I went to Paris, France to shoot some work and am excited to bring that out to you. Hope to see you down the road, please visit my website if you would like to see the work that will be updated throughout the year.

The Roue de Paris        2013 MMacKinnon

The Roue de Paris is a 60-metre (200 ft) tall transportable Ferris wheel originally installed on the Place de la Concorde in Paris, for the 2000 millennium celebrations. Due to its transportable design, it can be erected in 72 hours and dismantled in 60 hours by a specialist team. Transport requires seven 20-foot (6.1 m) container lorries, ten open trailer lorries, and one closed trailer lorry. It weighs 365 tonnes.

The Big Wheel has not been without controversy. It was meant to stand for only a year; but that became two years. A judge ordered the wheel dismantled and the owner Marcel Campion refused. Finally, it was taken down and it went gallivanting around the world, Birmingham and Manchester England, Amsterdam, even Bangkok!

Now, it is back in Paris.
