MALDEN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
BLUE & GOLD BULLETIN   -   MARCH 26, 2016

  From the Headmaster

Headmaster Doherty
Easter Blessings to you and your family. Easter is such a wonderful time of year, filled with joy and happiness. Winter and Lent are behind us, and spring and the promise of new life are at hand. Remembering back to my time as a theology teacher, I would teach students how Christ's resurrection is a victory for all mankind. Even though we did nothing, his victory over death is our victory because he shares our humanity. It is that human family that bonds us and lets his success become our success is well.

This is what it is to be a family. This is what we mean when we say Malden Catholic is a family. We share in each other's success. When one member of the family has a victory, it is a victory for all of us at Malden Catholic. When our chess team took the league championship with an undefeated season we all won. When Ian placed first in state in the high jump or Nick scored the overtime goal to win the Super 8 for hockey, all of our students, teachers, coaches and alumni were champions. When students are accepted to schools like Harvard, Boston College, and the United States Naval Academy it is an academic success for all of us. The thousands of hours of community service work done by our students each year is service that we all share.

This means that each and every member of the Malden Catholic family has the responsibility to achieve at their highest level. Each of us is called to do our best in all that we do. Our own personal success is not selfish being done only for us, but it is charitable because it is done for our family. All of our accomplishments, big and small, benefit our school and all of our students and alumni. I encourage every one in our community to use this Easter season as a time of renewal, a time to recommit ourselves to be our best in all that we do, and to do our best not only for ourselves, but for our entire Malden Catholic family. I wish you and your family a happy and blessed Easter.

Warm regards,

Thomas J. Doherty III
