Where Are All The Godly men? -The Answer To Finding Is Seeking

"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, oh my Lord."

Psalm 42:11

We men are strange creatures. In the beginning, God created us as the first of humans on this earth. He then gave us the responsibility to work and gifted each of us with the necessary gifts and desires to take care of all his creation. He created us men with a desire to achieve, to pursue a challenge, and to find significance in our pursuits. But He also created us to have a loving relationship with HIm. He gave us a free will to choose that relationship, or, to go our own way. For many, the creation of the marketplace has been a distraction away from this loving relationship. What God intended to bring us closer to Him ends up taking us away. He is always there waiting and longing for us to fellowship with Him, but to be a true Godly man, we have to chose to seek Him.

God recognizes that we come to Him in the heat of a battle with a mixture of emotions, desires, and a natural tendency to strike out on our own. He understands, and yet, He yearns for us to seek Him first in all areas of our life.

As Godly men, one way we seek Him is in our business life. We resist the human nature to use our business as a means to possessions, pleasures, and pride. We recognize that God desires for us to enjoy the pleasures of his creation, but they are a gift from Him. We thus turn our hearts to seek Him more because of his grace, mercy and generosity. We turn our pride in what we think we have accomplished into a pride in the God who created all things and makes all things possible. We also seek God in our families. We understand that loving our wife is a demand from God, and It is through seeking Him, that we are able to feel and express that love for an entire lifetime. We seek God in our personal life recognizing our frailties and seeking Him as the source of strength, wisdom, and guidance to a significant life.

To seek God is to look for Him in his Word. It is to long for his precepts and to rejoice in following his statures.(Psalm 119) His word is for obtaining wisdom, guidance, and understanding, so that we acquire a "disciplined and prudent life - doing what is right, just, and fair"(Proverbs 1: 3) A Godly man seeks God in the every day situations of life.  We see God in the beauty of his creation, in the answers to instant needs, in the blessings received in our business and our family. We see Him in our children as they too grow to know Him. We see God in the difficult relationship with a friend that is now healed. We seek God and we begin to see Him everywhere and feel his presence at all times.

It is not only to seek his presence, but to seek who He is. We are to seek his personality, his principles, and his pleasures. Our seeking focuses our thoughts on his holiness, his righteousness, and his purity. Understand, none of us are any of these, but God desires that we pursue these qualities and He is able through his grace to bestow each one according to our desire to seek him.  We can only find God by seeking God, and the more we seek the more we find. When we find Him, we begin to see Him.
