God Requires That We Be Diligent
One requirement of God for us in the market place is that we are diligent in all we do. When God created the earth and man, He gave it His very best. He looked back at what He had done and declared that He had done a good job. In fact, when He made man He said it was "very good." Why did God do a very good job with me? Is it that He wanted to show Himself off at what He could do, or was it that He wanted to show me off at what He could do? God put all of His efforts to do His best in making each one of us, I think He did it for two reasons. First, He loved me enough to want me to be sparkling, without blemish. Second, I think He wanted all of us to see the awesomeness and magnificence of who He is.
Proverbs 2: 24 states; "Diligent hands rule, but laziness ends in slave labor." Everything I do in the market place should be done out of a devoted heart to represent the God who created me without blemish, and because He loved me that much. Since He set the example and did His best, we in honoring Him, should give back our best and be diligent about it.
God has gifted each one of us with certain abilities and desires. We are good at certain things and certain things really get our juices flowing. Imagine, God did all that so that we would enjoy our work. He not only requires that we be diligent about our work, but He gave us the gifts and the enjoyment to do it. Happy is the man that finds his nitch, and does it out of his heart.
Our youngest grandson, Preston, was a member of the Club Scouts a few years back. One of his projects was to build a model race car. He was to do this with his dad. Well, Preston set out on this task with determination to build the best race car he possibly could. When the car was finished, he was to present it to the judge for recognition. This was something he was really excited about. He spent countless hours working on this car. Every detail had to be perfect. He wanted more than anything to, not only work along side of his dad, but to do his best for him. He treated it with pride and wanted to show it off to everybody. He spoke of it as though it was his joy in life and could not wait to tell everyone what it was going to look like when it was finished. All the time and energy he put into this project came our of a heart of love for his dad and a true sense to do his very best for him and himself. God, in His amazing love for us, gave it His very best in creating each one of us. He only ask that whatever we do, we do our best for him
