Renton Tech Student and LIHI Receive Award

The Low Income Housing Institute has been selected to receive a grant from Renton Technological College for our work with student Dean Hestmark. Dean submitted an application to the Students Serving Washington Awards and designated LIHI as his community partner with whom he has worked to build "tiny houses" for homeless families. The Students Serving Washington Awards program seeks to encourage and promote higher education student involvement in addressing critical issues in communities around Washington State. Please watch this video about the work and award:

Sharon Lee recently attended the NeighborWorks Executive Leaders Symposium in Crystal City, VA. As part of the conference, Sharon and members from the 145 NeighborWorks organizations spent a day on Capitol Hill lobbying NeighborWorks America funding. The day was a success, with clear continued Capitol Hill support of the work and the NeighborWorks appropriation. NeighborWorks had a bi-partisan reception in the evening with opening remarks from HUD Secretary Castro.

LIHI joined NeighborWorks in 2015. For information on NeighborWorks, please visit their website.

Thank you for Giving Big!
