Mike O'Brien & Jean Godden Support Urban Rest Stop Funding!

More good news!  Your advocacy continues to work!  Mike O'Brien and Jean Godden have joined Seattle City Councilmembers Sally Bagshaw, Kshama Sawant, and Bruce Harrell in supporting the addition of $200,000 to the mayor's 2015 budget for the Urban Rest Stop.  This would fully fund the Urban Rest Stop, restoring funding to the 2014 level.

Please thank these councilmembers for their support of the Urban Rest Stop:

Vote Happening Thursday (Tomorrow!)

This Thursday morning the council will be voting on budget amendments. There are many competing amendments, so it is important to have as much council support as possible. So we need your help in letting City Council know that you want the $200,000 Urban Rest Stop funding restored. It is urgent that you call and email Councilmembers Sally Clark, Nick Licata, Tim Burgess, and Tom Rasmussen as follows:

sally.clark@seattle.gov 206-684-8802

nick.licata@seattle.gov 206-684-8803

tim.burgess@seattle.gov 206-684-8806

tom.rasmussen@seattle.gov 206-684-8808

Do you know how important the Urban Rest Stop is for homeless people who are working or looking for work and housing? A shower and clean clothes can be the difference between getting a job and not getting a job, between keeping a job and losing a job, between getting an apartment and not getting an apartment.  If the $200,000 budget is not added to the mayor's budget, this will negatively impact our ability to provide free showers, restrooms, and laundry on evenings and weekends. The Urban Rest Stop is the only hygiene facility open to everyone without regard to gender, age, and program participation.

Big thanks to all who have already written or called. Please email and call again.  Keep the pressure on!
