Call Your City Councilmembers Today!

2 Seattle City Council Members, Sally Bagshaw, who is the prime sponsor, and Kshama Sawant, have signed onto a greensheet to add $200,000 to the mayor's 2015 budget for the Urban Rest Stop.  This will fully fund the Urban Rest Stop, restoring funding to the 2014 level. We need one more councilmember to sign onto the greensheet TODAY.  Then we will need at least 5 councilmembers to support this budget amendment in the final budget vote. It is urgent that you call and email Councilmembers Sally Clark, Nick Licata, Tim Burgess, Jean Godden, Bruce Harrell, Mike O'Brien, and Tom Rasmussen.

Do you know how important the Urban Rest Stop is for homeless people who are working or looking for work and housing? A shower and clean clothes can be the difference between getting a job and not getting a job, between keeping a job and losing a job, between getting an apartment and not getting an apartment.  If the $200,000 budget is not added to the mayor's budget, this will negatively impact our ability to provide free showers, restrooms, and laundry on evenings and weekends. The Urban Rest Stop is the only hygiene facility open to everyone without regard to gender, age, and program participation.

Big thanks to all who have already written or called. Please email and call again.  Keep the pressure on!
