Dear Friends,
I want to thank each and every one of you for all the good will that you have shown to LIHI. I am overwhelmed by your efforts to recruit your friends and family to vote in the Aprons in Action Facebook contest. I am truly gratified and humbled by your commitment to LIHI and the need to house veterans. LIHI is no longer participating in the Facebook contest. LIHI and The Home Depot Foundation were victims of sabotage and fraudulent voting. Without our knowledge, someone hired or engaged an overseas company to generate votes. This could have been a competitor-or it could have been an overzealous supporter--but we do not know. We are still investigating.
Over the past three years The Home Depot Foundation has granted LIHI $612,700 for veteran housing. The Home Depot Foundation will continue to partner with LIHI to construct and maintain homes for veterans. Their recent award of $208,000 was for the construction of additional apartments for low income and homeless veterans in Seattle and Bellevue. We thank The Home Depot Foundation for their continued support and look forward to working with them on ending veteran homelessness in our community. We have been invited to apply for another grant this summer.
The Home Depot Foundation has provided grants and dedicated volunteers at many LIHI properties including: McDermott Place, Fleetwood Apartments, Cate Apartments, Arion Court, Frye Hotel, and Denny Park Apartments.
