***Please pay attention to all dates!***

Submitted by LtC Ott Siebert

We started accepting parking applications for upcoming seniors in the box in the front office beginning on April 4th. Additionally, all school financial obligations must be paid before your application will be considered.

Now until May 20th Turn in parking application (deadline Friday, May 20th at 2:15pm) - late turn-ins will be waitlisted.

Friday, June 3rd, at 1pm (after finals that day) there will be the Mandatory Safe Driver Briefing in the Auditorium (if you miss this class you will not be able to receive a parking pass before school starts).

Thursday, August 11th   9am-11am (Seniors A-L receive stickers); 12pm-3pm (Seniors M-Z receive stickers)

Friday, August 12th 9am-11am (make-ups must be approved in advance)

***Note that the issuing dates are consistent with previous years which allows for your vacation planning, an ADULT can drive your car as long as they have all your current license, registration and proof of insurance to receive your sticker, if any are expired, we cannot issue)

TURN IN OF APPLICATIONS WILL BE IN THE BOX IN THE FRONT OFFICE - this system has worked well and consistent with previous years.

The PTSA Needs Your Help

Submitted by PTSA President Amy Mory

Hello Hough Families,

The PTSA has applied to become a School of Excellence. In the fall, we asked you to fill out a short survey. Now we are asking again. We need everyone to help out; those that filled it out in the fall as well as those that didn't.

The National PTA School of Excellence program is designed to support our school and PTSA as we strengthen family-school partnerships that enrich students' educational experiences and overall well-being. In order for Hough to become a PTSA School of Excellence we must gather feedback. Please go to the link below and fill out the short survey. This will help to generate specific recommendations for improving our family-school partnership and achieve excellence!

Senior Scholarship Information  (Submitted by Maghen Rubbino)
So that we may celebrate the accomplishments of our seniors, we are in the process of collecting scholarship award information for the Class of 2016.  If any senior has been selected as a recipient of any academic or athletic scholarship award, we ask that you please bring a copy of the award letter to Mrs. Estrada in Student Services and also add it to your Naviance/Family connection account by May 1st in order to receive recognition in the Senior Awards Program.  This can be added on the about me tab and clicking the scholarship survey on the left hand side. We would like to receive information about any scholarship received, including any that might be declined for any reason.    We have a very talented senior class and we want to celebrate your achievements!

Shop On Amazon and Earn Money for HOUGH

Submitted by PTSA Fundraising VP, Debbie Wood

The PTSA now has an account through Amazon Smile.  Please put your online purchases to work and help the school earn money at the same time.

What is AmazonSmile?

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on Amazon.com. The difference is that when customers shop on AmazonSmile (smile.amazon.com), the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible purchases to the charitable organizations selected by customers.

How does AmazonSmile work?

When first visiting AmazonSmile, customers are prompted to select a charitable organization from almost one million eligible organizations. In order to browse or shop at AmazonSmile, customers must first select a charitable organization. For eligible purchases at AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to the customer's selected charitable organization.

if you submit articles to the Howler.  Thank you!!!***
Deadlines and Requirements for Articles This Year

The Hough Howler is the electronic newsletter compiled by the Hough PTSA that communicates the most current Hough High School News and and information.  We encourage all Hough staff members, booster clubs and Hough student clubs to provide us information to publicize to the over 2600 Howler e-mail subscribers in the Hough community.  Articles must be specific to Hough, Hough PTSA, Husky Athletic Club, other Hough booster clubs/student clubs or organizations or CMS specific/principal approved.

Deadlines:  During the school year, there are two deadlines a month for articles - the 1st and 15th of each month at NOON.  During the summer months, the Howler has less frequent deadlines.  Please pay attention to these deadlines as sometimes that date is on a weekend or during a holiday.  If there is something urgent that needs to go out, the Howler will be distributed on a more frequent basis at the Editor's discretion. The Howler may be distributed within a few days past the deadline, so please submit your articles on time, or even better, early!  It is best to publicize events with dates that take place at least a week past the deadline.  Sometimes, that means advanced planning and article submission at least one Howler prior. Thank you for your cooperation.

Requirements for submssions:  Articles should be typed in Arial 11 font; if you want a picture included, please indicate placement within text and submit a separate jpg file.  If you want to link to a document or flyer, please send fllyer or document as a pdf file.  If you want it as an image in the article, please send as a jpg file.  If including a picture, please indicate names of those in picture (left to right.) (unless it is a huge group) and identify who is providing the picture.  If no identification is provided, we will identify the name of person providing the submission.  If submission is sent by a student or parent for a Hough club/organization, Hough staff advisor must be copied.  Editor reserves the right to edit or decline articles not meeting the abovementioned criteria.  If you have questions about any of these requirements for submission, please contact the Editor prior to the deadline.  Thank you for your cooperation.
