AP Exam and Spring Exam Information
Last AP Pre-registration Thursday, April 21
Submitted by Instructional Accountability Facilitator Susan Keiger

1.  Students who will be taking the AP exams in May will need to fill out preregistration information prior to taking the exam.  If you have not done so already this week, this needs to be done after school on Thursday, April 21.  Students will report to the cafeteria at 2:20 and it will take approximately one hour.

2.  AP exams will be administered during the first two weeks of May.  Exact exam schedules are available on the College Board website, from your AP course teacher or in the AP Bulletin for Students and Parents that was given out several weeks ago.  All Hough AP exams are given off site at Cove Church in Mooresville.  Students will receive more specific information the week of April 11 as well as directions and a parental permission slip for driving to the site that must be signed and returned to Mrs. Keiger, the testing coordinator.

3.  Spring Exams will start on June 3rd.  We will release the specific schedule later but for planning purposes it will be pretty much the same as the exam schedule in January.  The last day of school and exams is June 9.

Submitted by Marcille Nance

Prom is this Saturday, April 23 at 8pm.  Please check out the prom website for additional information.

Get Your Tickets
Students may pick up their purchased Prom Tickets and Prom Picture Information from Monday April 18 - Wednesday April 20 outside the cafeteria during all lunches.  Students must have a ticket and picture ID to be admitted to the prom.  There will
be no exceptions.

Location
The Prom will be located at:
The Ritz-Carlton's Urban Garden
150 North College Street
Charlotte, NC 28202

Parking and Drop-off
Students can be dropped off at the building entrance that faces the intersection of 5th Street and College Street.

Students choosing to drive and park downtown have several options.  The Ritz will valet park student cars for an $18 event fee. Students must let us know when picking up their tickets that they wish to use this service.

There are also several pay lots in the vicinity of the Ritz-Carlton and Bank of America Center.  Parking costs range from $5-$20 in these lots depending on location and
scheduled events in the area.  It is recommended that students and parents
determine possible parking locations before the night of the event.

Student Pick-Up
If you are picking up a student after the prom, you should plan to arrive at the Urban Garden between 11:30 and 11:45.  All guests must be picked by 12:00 am.  It is
suggested that you communicate to your student the exact location of pick-up so
there is no confusion on Prom Night.  There are several entrances to this
building.  We are recommending that all pick-ups and drop-offs occur at
the entrance that faces the intersection of 5th Street and College Street.

Hough High School

2016-17 PTSA Officer Nomination Form

Submitted by the Hough PTSA Nominating Committee

Officers to serve on the 2016-2017 PTSA Board of Directors will be elected at the PTSA General Meeting on Monday, May 16th at 6:00 pm in the Media Center. A Nominating Committee has been formed to select a slate of officers to present before the PTSA for election. The Nominating Committee would like your input in recommending PTSA officers.

The Hough PTSA serves as a liaison between the Hough High School parents, students, teachers and administration. The PTSA supports many programs including the Homecoming festivities, the Reflections program, Advocacy Lunch and Learn events, staff appreciation and NC Graduation Project judging.   We promote communication through our electronic newsletter, Hough Howler and other means. Donations to the Huskies Fund enabled the purchase of Chromebooks and books for the school as well as picnic tables so students can eat outside during lunch. We have a strong, goal oriented PTSA and we want to continue our forward momentum. Therefore, it is fundamental to our PTSA organization that we fill these positions with interested and dedicated parents. These officers will serve for a minimum of one year, with a two year maximum term. Briefdescriptions of the officer positions are located on the back of this page.

If you are interested in one of these officer positions or know of someone who is worthy of nomination, please complete the nomination form and return it to the Hough front office no later than 2:15 pm Friday, April 29th or email it to one of the members of the Nominating Committee below. If you are not interested in an officer position, but would like to chair a PTSA Committee, please review the committee list on the back page of the form and check the box(es) of the committees that interest you. If you have any questions or need more information about any of these positions, please contact one of the Nominating Committee members listed below.

Thank you,
PTSA Nominating Committee

The Howler may be distributed within a few days past the deadline, so please submit your articles on time, or even better, early!  It is best to publicize events with dates that take place at least a week past the deadline.  Sometimes, that means advanced planning and article submission at least one Howler prior. Thank you for your cooperation.

Requirements for submssions:  Articles should be typed in Arial 11 font; if you want a picture included, please indicate placement within text and submit a separate jpg file.  If you want to link to a document or flyer, please send fllyer or document as a pdf file.  If you want it as an image in the article, please send as a jpg file.  If including a picture, please indicate names of those in picture (left to right.)
