Hough's Third Annual Career Day

On March 9th, from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm, the FBLA and JROTC will be hosting Hough's 3rd Annual Career Day. Our search for business professionals is still in motion as we approach the date of the event. Professionals from all career paths are appreciated and we are hoping to get as many participants as possible. This year, in order to expand the event and bring something new to the table, we are widening our search to include representatives from international businesses - this would include professionals that are required to travel outside of the country as a part of their career. With your help, this Career Day could be our most successful yet. If you are interested in participating, please sign up using the form at http://goo.gl/forms/gubdfgb2je or email christopher.pennella@gmail.com for more information.

Thank you,
Hough FBLA and JROTC

Echo Foundations 2016 Footsteps Global Initiative:  Bosnia
Submitted by Julie McConnell

Two of our Hough students, Sharonda Adams and Alexa Duffy have been selected to participate in the Echo Foundations 2016 Footsteps Global Initiative:  Bosnia.  A unique leadership initiative, this program provides students with the opportunity to learn about, travel to and serve in Bosnia, a location of humanitarian importance.

They will join several other students from the Charlotte Area as Footsteps Ambassadors.  These students are selected based on, among other things, their participation in  activities to help others, their compassion for those less fortunate  and their potential to serve as future leaders.

We are extremely proud of them as they had to fill out an application, write an essay and sit through an interview with members of the Echo Foundation.  Congratulations, Huskies!!!

Our Concert Choir and Chorus 2 singers were invited to sing for the CMS Mid-Year Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, February 3 at Bojangles Coliseum. They will be singing the National Anthem and the gospel ballad, "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", accompanied by parent volunteer Barb Palmer.

Best of luck to sopranos Annamarie Rios and Shea Palmer as they head to Mars Hill College February 4-6 for the Mars Hill College Choral Festival. Both ladies auditioned with thousands of other singers from across the state and were selected to participate and sing within this elite chorus of 200 of the finest high school singers from NC. The Howler may be distributed within a few days past the deadline, so please submit your articles on time, or even better, early!  It is best to publicize events with dates that take place at least a week past the deadline.  Sometimes, that means advanced planning and article submission at least one Howler prior. Thank you for your cooperation.

Requirements for submssions:  Articles should be typed in Arial 11 font; if you want a picture included, please indicate placement within text and submit a separate jpg file.  If you want to link to a document or flyer, please send fllyer or document as a pdf file.  If you want it as an image in the article, please send as a jpg file.  If including a picture, please indicate names of those in picture (left to right.) (unless it is a huge group) and identify who is providing the picture.  If no identification is provided, we will identify the name of person providing the submission.  Editor reserves the right to edit or decline articles not meeting the abovementioned criteria.  If you have questions about any of these requirements for submission, please contact the Editor prior to the deadline.  Thank you for your cooperation.
