Per the College Board, the administration of the SAT that was scheduled for Saturday, January 23rd at Hough High School has been postponed until Saturday, February 20th.  The College Board will be sending an email to those affected.  Please be aware that due to the large number of SAT site closings for tomorrow's exam, the College Board's website is not totally updated.  All CMS sites have been postponed.  If you have any questions, please contact the College Board.

  • Homework/Read
  • Clean the house
  • Send your favorite teacher/staff member a note telling them how much you appreciate them.
  • Seniors - pay for your parking permit renewal (due January 31)
  • Seniors - complete your Hough PTSA Scholarship Application (due April 6) and make sure you are a member by February 19)  Look for other scholarship opportunities!!!
  • Seniors - pay your class dues if you want to attend the picnic (due February 1)
  • Seniors - purchase your graduation cap and gown, announcements, etc.
  • Purchase a yearbook or buy your senior recognition ad (due February 1)
  • Play in the snow/sleet - Be Safe, Huskies!!!

Second Semester Parking
Renew Online - Deadline January 31

2nd SEMESTER PARKING RENEWAL:
Everyone will have to re-register after 1st semester (No new application is required if all information remains current). After 1st Semester, we will review unexcused absences, tardiness, academic eligibility (>2.5 Cumulative) and school conduct (i.e. major infractions resulting in suspensions and other infractions as stated in policy). We will then re-register and issue a new sticker for all cars for 2nd semester (must pay $10 for renewal prior to receiving new sticker). Cars without the second semester sticker will be ticketed. If there is no change in your status, you will retain the same spot. Students may only park in their assigned parking spaces.

If you meet the RENEWAL requirements, you may pay the $10 renewal fee online. Online payment will be available from Jan 15 - Jan 31. You must ensure that you've met the GPA and other administrative requirements prior to submitting your payment since there are NO refunds.
You must pay the renewal fee prior to receiving your new sticker on the designated date and time near the student parking lot, next to the practice football field:

Seniors with a last name falling between A to L will report on Tues, February 9th, 2016 from 2:30-4 PM
Seniors with a last name falling between M to Z will report on Wed, February 10th, 2016 from 2:30-4 PM

**Seniors--Don't Delay--Join the PTSA Today for Scholarship Competition Eligibility!**
PTSA Scholarship Application Available Now

The Hough PTSA will award a total of $6,000 in college scholarships to eligible seniors based upon demonstrated community involvement and leadership. Students must be paid Hough PTSA members by Feb. 19th to compete. Please turn in PTSA membership forms along with $6 annual dues to a secretary in the front office for placement directly in the PTSA mailbox.
Additional scholarship eligibility requirements and competition applications are available here. Scholarships may be used at either a two or four year college of the recipient's choosing. Scholarship applications will be due to Lisa Estrada in Student Services by Wednesday, April 6th at 2:15 p.m. Local community leaders and scholarship committee members will select winners for recognition at the end-of-year Awards night in May.

Senior Recognition Ads

Senior Parents:  This is your last chance to purchase your Senior Yearbook Recognition Ad for your student.  All senior ad payments and content must be turned in to the front office by Monday, February 1st if you have not completed your ad online. Checks should be made payable to Hough High School with Senior Ad on the memo line.  Please email houghyearbook@gmail.com or have your student see Ms. Nance in C219 if you have questions.

    
Business Ads are also due by Monday, February 1st so if you are interested in such, please email houghyearook@gmail.com or contact Ms. Nance as soon as possible.

Senior Dues
Due by Monday, February 1st to Attend Senior Picnic

Seniors -  This is a reminder that your Senior Dues must be paid by February 1st if you plan on attending the Senior Picnic on May 20th. The dues are $35 and include entry to the Senior Picnic, $10 off prom ticket, a tshirt, and various coupons.  Please go to the Hough Online School Payment to pay these dues.
Junior Rings and Senior Graduation Orders

If you wish to place Herff Jones orders for a Junior Class Ring and Senior Graduation (caps and gowns, graduation announcements and senior memorabilia), there may be extra packets in the main office and student services.  Seniors can order on line at: highschool.herffjones.com, mail in their order form, order by phone to their (704)531 0015. Questions?  Call Herff Jones at 704-531-0015 or see website at www.hjcharlotte.com.
