College Application Week:

Monday, November 2 - Friday, November 6th
 Submitted by Jeanette Culek

NC College Application Week is a state-wide promotional week for NC high school seniors to apply to colleges and universities in North Carolina. CAW's popularity has led some colleges and universities to decide to entirely waive the application fee during this week. Not every participating college or university waives their application fee; however for those who qualify they will accept the College Board College Application Fee Waiver during CAW. This is a great way to save money and apply to NC colleges and universities. Check out this link and this flyer for participating schools and more info!

Deadline is Thursday, November 5th at 2:15 pm

Hough High Marching Band
Earns First Place in Class at Pirate Cove Classic
Submitted by Cristina Shaul

The William A. Hough High School Marching Band ended their competition season with a first place finish in the Pirate Cove Classic at Porter Ridge High School in Indian Trail, NC on Saturday, October 24. They won first place in percussion, drum major, marching and movement, and music, which gave them the overall win in their class. They also received a "superior" (highest rating possible) for their music from the judges.

This year's marching band features 105 musicians and six color guard members, and is led by Band Director Robert Carrington and student drum majors Meredith Steele, Bryn Rumer and Tyler Townson, all seniors.  "Their superior rating is a testament to the determination to improve with each performance," said Carrington.

Even though their competition season has ended, the Hough High Marching Band will continue to play at football games (Go Huskies!) and will also march in the annual North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade in Davidson on Saturday, December 5 at 1:00 p.m.
