IMPORTANT SURVEY
FOR ALL HOUGH PARENTS/CAREGIVERS
Survey closes on Friday!

Dear CMS parent/caregiver,

At Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, our goal is to provide a high quality education that prepares all of our students to graduate with the skills needed for college and/or career success. As a parent or caregiver of a CMS student, you play an important role in helping us achieve this goal.

The AdvancED survey reflects our commitment at CMS to nurture an ongoing, district-wide conversation about CMS. The questions were developed by AdvancED, an outside organization that works with schools and school systems to help them improve. They are designed to help us learn more about what you as a parent may be looking for in a high quality school. Your responses, once received, will inform decisions to help improve student achievement and strengthen our schools.

All individual survey responses are confidential. Only group-level results will be reported once the survey closes on October 2. The survey will take about 10 minutes to complete.  Thank you in advance for your participation in this important survey and for choosing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for your child's education.

In order to complete the survey, please go to: http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/6245670  (If this link does not work by selecting it, please copy and paste it into your browser.) (Editor's Note:  On the first field where you select a school, William Amos Hough High School is towards the end.)

If you need technical assistance to complete this survey, please email AdvancED at contactus@advanced.org or call 888-413-3669, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ET.

If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Julie Houk at julie1.houk@cms.k12.nc.us or 980-344-7178.

DON"T FORGET THAT NEXT WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7TH

IS AN EARLY RELEASE DATE!  Dismissal will be 3 hours early at 11:15 am.

On October 7, we will dismiss at 11:15 am. We also ask that you notify other appropriate parties of the early dismissal. Again the early release time will allow our teachers to take part in workshops that will help strengthen their knowledge and skills. This professional development will go a long way toward bringing additional value to your student's learning experience during this school year. If you have questions, please contact the school at 980.344.0514.

College Application Week:

Monday, November 2 - Friday, November 6th
 Submitted by Jeanette Culek

NC College Application Week is a state-wide promotional week for NC high school seniors to apply to colleges and universities in North Carolina. CAW's popularity has led some colleges and universities to decide to entirely waive the application fee during this week. Not every participating college or university waives their application fee; however for those who qualify they will accept the College Board College Application Fee Waiver during CAW. This is a great way to save money and apply to NC colleges and universities. Check out this link and this flyer for participating schools and more info!

Hough Computer Lab will be open on Tuesday, November 3rd for application assistance.  Please sign up for a time slot to get assistance on your college applications!   SIGN up for a time slot in computer lab by 10/28 at the following link.
