SAT/ACT for Juniors
As a reminder, we highly recommend that all juniors who are considering attending a four-year university immediately after graduation take the SAT and/or ACT in the spring of the junior year. There are a few more opportunities to test this school year. The SAT will be given on May 7, and the registration deadline for this test date is in a few days, April 8. The SAT will also be given on June 4 and the ACT will be given on June 11. The registration deadline for both is early May. To register, visit http://sat.collegeboard.org for the SAT and www.actstudent.org for the ACT. Please contact your student's counselor if you have any questions!

Service Academy Day
There are two Service Academy Day's coming up for students who are interested in learning more about attending a military service academy after graduation: On Saturday, April 23 at Horizon High School in Phoenix, Senator Flake, Congressman Salmon, and Congressman Schweikert will host their United States Service Academy Conference from 10:00-noon; on Saturday, May 14, at Empire High School in Tucson, Congresswoman McSally with host her 2016 Academy Day from 10:00 am-noon. RMACAC Tucson College Fair
Please mark your calendar for this upcoming event! Saturday, April 16 from 1:00-3:30 pm at the Gregory School. This is a great opportunity to explore many colleges at one event. There are more than 55 colleges and universities currently listed as participating in this event. For a current list of participating schools, please visit:http://rmacac.org/college-fairs/spirng-college-fair-in-tucson-az/ (misspelling is intentional). RMACAC college fairs are always free for students and parents. Students planning on attending the fair should pre-register at www.gotocollegefairs.com. This will allow you to best utilize the scanner technology most colleges will have by creating and printing out your own barcode.

Please save the date for our upcoming Financial Aid Night!
The Counseling Department will be offering another Financial Aid Night, presented by the HEFAR Group, on Wednesday, April 13 at 6:00 pm in the CDO Café. AZ MERIT TESTING

AZMerit testing begins on Tuesday, March 29th.

Please be reminded that this is state mandated testing and that there is no "Opt Out" option available.

Students enrolled in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, English 9, English 10, and English 11 or that course equivalent are required to test regardless of grade level.

For any seniors taking an AZMerit exam, the results will not impact your graduation. If a student is unsure if they need to test they should check with their English or Math teacher.

There is no change in our start/end time and buses will run their normal routes/times. All classes that are not testing on any given day will be taught as normal. All class period times will be extended on testing days.

PARENT ORGANIZATION UPDATE
Dear CDO Parent Community,

Monies Collected so far, ($940) will help cover the following costs:

Constant Contact: $498.60/year (March)
Staff Appreciation Staff Meals: $1500
Staff Appreciation Events (Bi-monthly) $1000

Our weekly email program:  Constant Contact costs us $498.60 every March.  With this program we are able to email 2500 email addresses for our CDO community.  Please watch your emails, as we will need to purge our email lists for people who no longer want to receive our emails but still get them.

As of yesterday, we paid for the weekly email to continue through next March.  We would like to thank the 20 families that have donated to the CDO Parent Organization since our recent email request.  As of now, we have received $940 towards our goal of $2998.60 for newsletter costs and staff appreciation commitments for this year.

We are hopeful that more families will donate to support our efforts in providing weekly parent communication and regular staff appreciation events.

Please consider a donation to CDO Parent Org so that we can cover our newsletter costs.  If every family that reads our weekly email donated, we could cover all of our costs for our newsletter annual fee and staff appreciation events throughout the year.

Please drop off a donation to the office for CDO Parent Org or use our donate button below.  We will provide you with a tax receipt for your donation.

Thanks

CDO ANNOUNCEMENTS

DRESS CODE

  • HEY DORADOS!  This is a reminder that the dress code is still in effect.  Ladies, your tops must have straps on the shoulders, no showing or exposed undergarments and your midriff, front and back, must be covered.  Open or exposed backs on shirts are not allowed, either. Gentlemen, same for you: no exposed undergarments, no tank tops where the armpit hole extends to the waist, no exposed midriff and no images or language on shirts that violate the dress code.  Dress code violators will be directed to Mrs. Henkel in Counseling where they will exchange their top for a CDO t-shirt.  Keep it classy CDO.

STUDENT IDs

  • A GENTLE REMINDER ABOUT IDs:  IDs must be worn and displayed while on campus by all students. Around the neck or on the bag facing front is perfectly acceptable.  In the pocket or out of site is unacceptable - students must have it on and showing. If you don't have it on or showing in front you will most likely receive a lunch detention.  Thanks for your thoughtful cooperation.
