MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear CDO Community,

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year! The school year is off to a great start. I have enjoyed meeting our new students and catching up with our returning students during the first few days of school.

Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, August 19th at 6:00 PM. We will start with a general meeting and introductions in the Cafeteria/MPR. After the general meeting, families will be released to follow their student's schedule and visit classrooms for 10 minute presentations. This will be an opportunity for you to learn more about classroom policies, expectations, and curriculum. We hope you will mark your calendars and plan to join us for this informational evening.

There are a few changes at CDO that I would like to highlight.
  • The bell schedule is slightly different from previous years. 1st period classes will start at 7:00 AM and 2nd period classes will start at 8:20 AM every day regardless of which daily schedule we are following. School will dismiss at 3:25 PM each day with the exception of early out days.
  • We have added an activity bus for students who participate in after school activities. The bus will be available to students at 6:00 PM in the east parking lot by the library. Unfortunately, the activity bus will not be able to transport students beyond Rams Field to the north nor the town of Oracle.
  • We have also added a warning tone to our school bells to let students know they have one minute left during passing periods to get to class on time.

Tutorial time with teachers will continue to be available in the mornings on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:45 - 8:20 AM. If after school tutoring options become available, I will communicate this information through the Parent Organization Newsletter.

We will continue to use the CDO webpage to communicate important schedule and emergency information to parents as needed.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you at Open House and working with you this year.

Sincerely,

Paul DeWeerdt
Principal

CDO SRO - FOR YOUR INFORMATION
Hello Dorados!!

Welcome back to Canyon Del Oro High School for the start of the 2015/2016 school year. Your two returning School Resource Officers, Officer Beauchamp and Officer Brown, would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and students that the speed limit in front of CDO is 25mph. During the first several weeks of school expect arrival and dismissal traffic on Calle Concordia to be slowed and congested while everyone learns the traffic patterns for drop off and pickup of students. When possible do not block the entrance or exits of any of the driveways in front of the school as this will further slow down the flow of traffic.

If you commute through the neighborhood to the south of CDO be aware that Southwest Gas has hired a contractor who will be in the area for the next several months replacing lines in the right of way along the roadways. Due to this construction there are several areas that pedestrian traffic will be forced to walk on the roadway, around the construction zones. Please observe all speed limit and any temporary signage in the area pertaining to the ongoing construction. If you or your child has any questions or concerns while at CDO please stop by or contact your School Resource Officers.

Thank you.

I am excited to provide an update to this, and would like to invite you in on that conversation.

I would also like to hear how Amphi is doing. Please come and tell me what is on your mind!

WHAT: Town Hall Meeting and Community Outreach
WHEN: Saturday, August 22, 2015 - 12:30 PM
WHERE: Pima County Library, Nanini Branch, 7300 N. Shannon Rd, Tucson, AZ 85741

AMPHI FOUNDATION - CHROME BOWL 2015

Another school year has begun and the Amphi Foundation needs your help!

Arizona now ranks 50th in the United States for state funding of necessary classroom items. That is why the Amphi Foundation has stepped in - we're looking for sponsors for this year's Bowl-A-Thon.

The goal of Chrome Bowl 2015 is to purchase FIVE Chromebooks for every K-5th grade classroom in the Amphi School District.  Every cent you donate goes directly towards the purchase ofthese Chromebooks.

Sponsorship is easy!  Click on the Chrome Bowl logo above or visit amphifoundation.org for more information.  Thank you!

CDO ANNOUNCEMENTS

DRESS CODE

  • HEY DORADOS!  This is a reminder that the dress code is still in effect.  Ladies, your tops must have straps on the shoulders, no showing or exposed undergarments and your midriff, front and back, must be covered.  Open or exposed backs on shirts are not allowed, either. Gentlemen, same for you: no exposed undergarments, no tank tops where the armpit hole extends to the waist, no exposed midriff and no images or language on shirts that violate the dress code.  Dress code violators will be directed to Mrs. Henkel in Counseling where they will exchange their top for a CDO t-shirt.  Keep it classy CDO.

STUDENT IDs

  • A GENTLE REMINDER ABOUT IDs:  IDs must be worn and displayed while on campus by all students. Around the neck or on the bag facing front is perfectly acceptable.  In the pocket or out of site is unacceptable - students must have it on and showing. If you don't have it on or showing in front you will most likely receive a lunch detention.  Thanks for your thoughtful cooperation.
