Dear CDO Community,
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year!
This is an exciting and special year as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Canyon del Oro High School. We will be celebrating "50 Years of Excellence" during Homecoming on the weekend of October 24th & 25th. I encourage everyone to visit the CDO webpage to learn more about the festivities being planned, to order your commemorative t-shirts and to make reservations for the Saturday luncheon.
Open House is scheduled for August 20th at 6:00 PM. We will start with a general meeting and introductions in the MPR. After the general meeting, families will be released to follow their student's schedule and visit classrooms for 10 minute presentations. This will be an opportunity for you to learn more about classroom policies, expectations, and curriculum. We hope you will mark your calendars and plan to join us for this informational evening.
One piece of unfortunate information is that the Pima County Library had to discontinue their support of the after school Homework Help Program through the CDO Library. This support kept our library open until 4:45 PM each afternoon. Without this support, the library will be required to close each day at 3:45 PM. The closest Homework Help Location will be the Oro Valley Public Library where they have tutoring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Finally, students will attend all scheduled classes on Thursday and Friday. We will start following the block schedule the week of August 11th, the first full week of school.

 Welcome to another exciting year of Dorado athletics!
As we begin the school year practice starts for fall sports. All levels of Football begin on Monday, August 04, 2014 followed by Cross Country, Golf, Swimming and Volleyball on Monday, August 11, 2014. Students all must be cleared by the Athletic Office before participating in tryouts.
As in past years we have Athletic Passes available for sale in the Bookstore. This is an outstanding value for families with more than one child. You can use your passes at all home games with the exception of Divisionals and State.

Welcome Back!
The Canyon Del Oro School Resource Officer Unit would like to welcome all returning and new students to CDO for the 2014-2015 school year. We would like to remind students and parents that the Oro Valley Police Department currently staffs CDO with 2 fulltime School Resource Officers available Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and major after school events. Canyon Del Oro's School Resource Officer Unit consists of Officer Ron Beauchamp and Officer Trey Brown.
Officer Beauchamp is starting his second year at CDO and 9th year with the Oro Valley Police Department. Officer Brown is replacing long time SRO Officer Dan Horetski who chose to return to the motor division for the Oro Valley Police Department. Officer Brown has been with the Oro Valley Police Department 7 years and during this time has worked as a patrol officer, DUI enforcement, and is a national certified drug recognition expert.
The SRO's would like to remind students and parents we are available for any school related law enforcement questions and we look forward to a great year.

The Dorado Football Season has started off very well! We are excited for another great season of Dorado Football and again we thank you for the support to OUR program.
Here are this week's updates..
1. On August 14th @ 6:45 in the MPR we will be having a Frosh and JV parent meeting. Please do your best to attend in order to get everyone on the same page. Varsity parents may attend if they like but the information provided will be for lower levels.
2. Dorado CARDS: Monday we kicked off our annual fundraiser. Thank you for the support with this fundraiser and we look forward to keeping our 6-year title of raising the most funds in southern AZ per kid.
3. Tryouts: I have attached our tryout sheet implicating how the athletes will be evaluated in this two week period.
4. Parent/Player manual: I have attached the parent and player manual for the 2014 season. Nothing has changed to this document. Look forward to maintaining our excellence here at CDO. On Friday the 8th we will be having a meeting with the entire CDO football program discussing this manual with our AD Ms. Harris.
