| Dear Parents,
The Amphitheater School District is participating in an important accreditation process involving all of our schools. For the first time, we will be taking our entire school district through this process, which is known as systems accreditation. The systems accreditation process which is overseen by AdvancED will help us:
* Evaluate our effectiveness using research-based processes.
* Examine the whole district (the school and district programs, the culture and climate at our schools, and all members of our community - students, parents, staff, administrators, the Board) to determine how well we all work together to meet the needs of students.
* Improve student learning and make continuous school improvement.
In an effort to improve our system practices, we are conducting a parent survey. We value your opinion and ask that you take the time to complete this survey. In order to complete the survey, please go to, or cut and paste the following link into your browser:
http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/section/response/begin?surveyConfigId=144617
Please be assured that your responses to this survey will be anonymous. Your honest opinion is appreciated. This parent survey will take the place of the longer Spring Climate Survey that you used to participate in. Please complete this survey prior to Thanksgiving break.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Monica Nelson
Associate Superintendent

Attendance Concerns
As we enter the final six weeks of the first semester, we would like to take a few moments to remind you about the CDO attendance policy. According to the policy, a student may lose credit in a class when he/she exceeds 7 absences in a class for the semester. These absences may be excused or unexcused.
We have many students who have reached this limit, or are close to reaching the limit, this semester. Please keep in mind that it is extremely difficult for your student to be successful in his classes when he is not in class. We know that there are times that an absence is unavoidable. In those cases, please contact the attendance office to excuse the absence. We also recommend that your student check his teacher's website for missed work and/or email the teacher for work. In addition, you can check the Parent Portal (and your student can now check the Student Portal) for current missing assignments and grade information.
If there is a medical condition that is keeping your student from attending school regularly, please contact your student's counselor for information about our Chronic Health program.
Another great opportunity....
CDO will be offering the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) for students on Tuesday, November 19 at 9:00 am. The ASVAB is the best aptitude and interest inventory available! If your student isn't sure about what career field he/she would like to go in to, this test can help them explore what they would be good at doing, and what they would enjoy doing (and where those two things overlap!). Please have your student sign up in the counseling office.
Upcoming College Visits:
- Tuesday, November 12, 9:00 am - University of Arizona
- Wednesday, November 13, 9:00 am - Pima Community College
- Thursday, November 14, 9:00 am - Arizona State University
