News from the Principal

Dear CDO Parents and Community Members,

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! We have had an amazing start to the new school year, and I am excited to have the opportunity to serve the CDO community.

I would like to invite everyone to attend Open House on August 21st. We will start the evening with an informal meet and greet from 5:20-6:00 PM in the MPR. I will be available to meet families and to discuss the importance of getting involved with our Project Grad Program. Our formal program will start at 6:00 PM. I will introduce myself to the CDO community and spend a few minutes discussing some of the more important updates regarding our campus. At 6:30 PM, families will be dismissed from the MPR. We will follow a bell schedule so you can visit with each of your student's classrooms and meet their teachers. Please mark your calendars and make plans to join us for this important school event.

Please consider getting involved with our CDO Parent Organization. The PO raises money to support school projects and important events such as staff and teacher appreciation luncheons. We are also in the initial stages of planning for CDO's 50th Anniversary that we will celebrate next year. I am excited for the future of CDO and the work we can accomplish together!

Sincerely,

Mr. Paul DeWeerdt

Modern Language Department News

The Modern Language Department would like to welcome Mrs. Joyce Meyer, German teacher and Mrs. Xin Zhang, Mandarin teacher to our faculty.

Both teachers will be great additions to the department. Mrs. Meyer brings a wealth of experience in teaching all levels of German, including expertise with the International Baccalaureate program. Mrs. Zhang is looking forward to teaching Mandarin at CDO.  She is also working on her doctoral program in bilingual education at the University of Arizona. Both teachers share a genuine enthusiasm and passion for language learning. They are looking forward to a great year as fellow Dorados.

If your son or daughter is still interested in taking one of our six languages offered including American Sign Language, French, German, Mandarin, Russian, or Spanish please encourage them to see a counselor as soon as possible.
