College Planning Night for Juniors
The Counseling Department's annual College Planning Night for Juniors is coming up on Wednesday, March 6 at 6:30 pm in the CDO Lecture Hall. CDO counselors will be presenting information on the college application process, college testing, and scholarships. We hope to see you there!
(The College Planning Night for International Baccalaureate Juniors will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 6:30 pm)
New for 2013-1014: First Hour Contract!
Students who are interested in taking a first hour class next school year will be required to sign, and obtain a parent signature on, a First Hour Contract. First hour classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis as contracts are returned. We are optimistic that this new process will eliminate schedule errors in regards to first period classes.
If your student is interested in taking a first period class next year and hasn't picked up a First Hour Contract yet, please direct him/her to the counseling office. Completed contracts are returned to Mrs. Castro in the Administration office.
Visiting College Campuses
Spring Break is a fantastic time to visit colleges! As you begin to think about your spring break plans, consider including a visit to a college campus or two. It is never too early to begin visiting colleges, and it is an important part of the college decision making process. Websites and college mailings always have beautiful pictures in them, but they don't tell the whole story. It is important for students to have the chance to visit the campus(es) of the college(s) they are interested in attending before they make their final decision - and that includes the U of A. The U of A is about more than just the football stadium or basketball arena; the two parts of campus that most of our students have visited. It is important to visit campus during the week, during the day, so that students can get a real sense of what the campus is like. All colleges offer free campus tour programs; some are just an hour or two, and others are an all day event. You can register for these opportunities on the college website (usually under the "admissions" or "prospective students" links) and it is important to register ahead of time; don't just show up and expect to be shown around. Happy touring!
Seniors who have been admitted to the University of Arizona...
Don't forget to check your "Next Steps" center for important information!! Also, once you have been admitted, you have access to the Scholarship Universe where you can find a multitude of scholarship opportunities! Visit https://scholarshipuniverse.arizona.edu/splash/splash.aspx

Attention CDO Family:
The CDO Sign Language Club needs your help for their service project - Adopting CDO's Own.
We have the APO addresses of a very large group of members of the CDO family who are in the military serving overseas and we want to make sure we send them lots of fun things, but our boxes are bare! When you go shopping this weekend, please think of those who are so very far from home and purchase one extra item for them.
We send things such as
Pringles, boxes of candy (like "Mike and Ike" or "Good and Plenty" and others), white socks, light blankets, small stuffed animals, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, sheets, new teeshirts, etc.
For a full list, please e-mail Neala Sillman, Sign Language Teacher at nsillman@amphi.com. Thank you for assisting us with this worthwhile project! CDO cares! |
