We like plant based sources of nutrition for our horses. But because most of our domesticated horses no longer have the freedom to forage and find their own nutrients and plant medicines to keep them in optimum health we need to provide them with a variety of different plants as supplements. Since horses are natural foragers, grazers and browsers they are biologically and physiologically designed to extract maximum nutrition out of plants rather than formulas designed and synthesized by humans. With plants there are never any problems with side effects, nutrient imbalances and/or absorption difficulties. There is never any argument about whether minerals are chelates or non-chelates or if they are organic vs inorganic.
