8th Graders Choose High Schools
It was a fantastic year for our 8th grade students with regard to the high school research, application and acceptance process. We are very proud of the thoughtful way that our students (and families) approached their research and are confident of the bright future ahead for each and every one of our students at their school of choice next year.
The 25 students in the 8th grade have chosen the following high schools:
8 to Justin-Siena High School in Napa Sophie Dierking Catherine Flaherty Natalie Gulrajani Anders Hart Mary Minigan Maggie Nugent Madigan Nugent Wriley Robles
6 to Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa Jane Coneybeer Stella Favaro Madison O'Brien Nuno Carvalho Owen Walthard Genaro Pamatz
5 to Sonoma Valley High School Jorge Campos Megan James Anabelle Metelmann Nikki Sandhu Emilie Umhultz
2 to Marin Academy in San Rafeal Aria Schuler Alexia Lema
Convent of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco Sienna Ryan
Thayer Academy in Boston Hannah Porter
Alexandra Garber and Sterling Macdonnell are undecided.

3rd and 8th Grade Classes Perform Cow Eye DissectionOn Friday, the third and eighth graders took part in a cow-eye dissection. The eighth graders handled the scalpels and assisted the third graders in identifying several parts of the eye. This was an optional activity if students were squeamish, but almost everyone enjoyed this unique opportunity to observe the main parts of an eye and discover how they function.

Count The Ways That This Year's Golf Tournament is New and Improved! 1. The tournament is on a Friday instead of a Monday -- enabling a much more fun evening party.
2. There is NO LIVE AUCTION! Woo-hoo, the fun will start early and never stop.
3. We are hosting the event at an entirely new venue -- the Eagle Vines Golf Course in Napa -- a scenic 20 minutes from Presentation.
4. We have lowered the total event cost to less than $200 per golfer for the first time in years (and that still includes two meals, prizes, greens fees, the cart, the party and more)
5. We have a new plan for music this year, with DJ Jefferson who has been a big hit at both the Imagine event and our middle school dances.
6. Dinner is going to be fantastic -- we've got a BBQ theme going with unlimited tri-tip, BBQ chicken, grilled corn, and more!
7. The Hole In One this year is a big, fat cash prize of $25,000!
8. We have brought back the silent auction for this event so you can look forward to going home with some wine, a Count Me In experiences or special local services.
9. We are offering a BUS so that couples don't end up with two cars at the event (or you can skip driving all together!) More details to follow but sign up here: http://goo.gl/9K9ioS
If you are a golfer -- Click here to register to join us.
If you are not a golfer -- Click here to join us for the Friday night party. Or click here to participate in our Fund A Need for Technology. Or email Nancy Bei at nbei@presentaitonschool.com to donate a silent auction item.

2014-2015 SCHOOL CALENDAR
While the 2014-2015 calendar released this week does not include all events, such as the Imagine Event, school play, grandparents day, etc., we felt it would be helpful to release the keys dates we have set so far for the upcoming school year.
Next year's calendar takes into account feedback from the parent survey earlier this year. Some significant changes include greatly reducing the number of minimum days, changing the conference schedule, grouping professional development days, scheduling a full week off for Thanksgiving and possibly moving Grandparents Day to coincide with the Spring Art Show or another fun event.
Our faculty is also researching the possibility of moving to a semester system, rather than a trimester system. Our goal would be to have marking periods be more meaningful and quarters be when student progress and goals are shared. It also makes it possible for us to offer more consistent and longer running after school programs. This decision would not change the calendar, but rather the way we assess and share information with families.

Presentation Welcomes New Family to First Grade
Presentation is very happy to welcome another new family to school mid-year. Last week, we welcomed 1st grader Lilah Hamner (center). Please keep an eye out for her parents, Renee and Brett, around campus and give them a warm Presentation welcome. When asked how she felt about Presentation School, Lilah said, "I don't ever want to leave!"

Tech Demo Day A Huge Success
Last week our students participated in a demo of a handful of educational applications. The kids were mixed with different grades and it was fun to see them working together and "playing" and learning. Below is a link to a two-question survey about the demonstrations. When you complete it, you will be allowed to look at some of the sites that the kids explored. Both the lower and upper school apps are included.

Kinders Go Green for St. Patrick's Day
Report from Mrs. Miller -- On March 17th our kinder classroom celebrated St. Patricks Day. Although our leprechaun traps were not successful, it seems a team of little green men had a party in our room leaving clues around the school for us to find the treasure. There was evidence our little friends escaped through the bathroom. Our Buddies joined us for some lucky charms math. It was a great day.

6th Grade Interviews Chinese Exchange Student
Earlier this month, our 6th grade students, upon completion of their unit on ancient and modern China, had a chance to interview a Chinese exchange student Yingying Li. Yingying is living with the Sheridan family for this school year while attending school as a sophomore at Sonoma Academy. The students seemed to really enjoy the experience and they were full of questions, ranging from everyday teenage life in China, to Yingying's school schedule when she was in 6th grade to the key differences between the U.S. and China.
