 Presentation Students Dominate
at County Science Fair

On Saturday, 161 middle and high school students competed in The Synopsys-Sonoma County Science Fair at Sonoma State University and more Presentation students received first place honors in their categories than students from any other school! Students were interviewed at length by judges and their entries were scored based on the execution of the scientific method, creativity, presentation, and connections to the real world.

8 students competed for Presentation (based on their scores in our school fair). Four of our students received blue first place honors, two received red ribbons and two received third place ribbons. Every Presentation student who competed placed!  BIG NEWS -- Our 8th graders Natalie Gulrajani and Alexandra Garber were among the handful who received the very highest marks overall and were designated as candidates to move on to the California State Science Fair later this spring!

Competing on Saturday from Presentation were: sixth grader Betina Hart (missing from photo); seventh graders Lauren Flaherty, Nell Sheridan, Michalea Zeiter and Silvan Kopp; and eighth graders Aria Schuler, Alexandra Garber and Natalie Gulrajani.

We are counting down the days until "You're A Good Man Charlie Brown"!  Our cast is hard at work rehearsing and our Musical Director Lynn McArthur is working with our K-5 students, as well as our middle school classes, on the big musical numbers.

The winner of the poster contest was announced -- congratulations to 7th grader Liza Glushkova (above)and the runner-up was 6th grader Luis Gonzales (below). Liza's poster's are up around campus and Luis' drawing will appear on our show program.

Click HERE to buy your tickets today!  Our first four rows of reserved seating will sell out soon!
 Presentation Student Wins Berth
at County Spelling Bee

6th grader Natalie Sandoval and 4th grader Lucca Sebastiani did an amazing job at the South County Spelling Bee last week with a terrific cheering section from Presentation who accompanied them to the competition.

The top five finishers from that Bee were invited to go on to the All-County Spelling Bee in Santa Rosa on March 31 and our very own Natalie S. will be one of them! Kudos also go out to Lucca who did an incredible job and came in 8th place overall.
8th Grade Spends Day at Glide Memorial

Mrs. Walthard and Ms. Dusak took the 8th grade class to Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco last week in connection with their faith studies. This year all students have chosen service projects to work on individually, but this experience included the whole class. The students helped with serving, busing trays, dishing washing, and food prep. A delicious meal of mac and cheese with ham was served. Profoundly impacted by the experience, students asked if they could go back again this year!

Glide's food program requires 60 volunteers each day in order to fill the breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts, 364 days a year. Over 900 meals a day are served. In addition to meals, Glide provides many other services, such a shelter beds, transitional housing, and medical care. You can learn more about Glide Memorial, or sign up to volunteer in the their kitchen at www.glide.org
Presentation Choir Performs at Vintage Sonoma
Our Presentation Choir elective students, under the direction of Lynn McArthur, delivered a beautiful performance at the assisted living center, Vintage Sonoma, earlier this month.  The audience seemed very appreciative of and impressed by our students!

5th Graders Wow Visitors to Invention Convention

Our  fifth grade's annual Invention Convention on Friday showcased our students' amazing creativity. Ask your student what his or her favorite inventions were! Congratulations to our students on their hard work on these projects.
 Meet Some of Presentation's Student-Athletes
Presentation students do a remarkable job of balancing their schoolwork and an array of impressive passions outside of school -- including many student athletes who compete on teams outside of school at a very high level.

An example of this is 6th grader Auguste Andi (above) who was recently selected for the Santa Rosa United Premier soccer team. Auguste will practice three times a week for 90 minutes with this team in addition to traveling the state playing games and tournaments. 8th graders Sophie Dierking and Alexia Lema and 7th graders Maddie Temkin, Dylan Rooney and Ava Ronglien also compete on select travel soccer and volleyball teams of this type outside of Sonoma. 5th grader Isabella Dedmore (above) trains with a Junior Olympic coach for triathalons and she competed in the USA Triathlon Junior Youth National Championship. In the world of gymnastics, 3rd grader Ashlyn Parlett practices six days a week and competes in Level 5 gymnastics and 7th grader Rosie McGovern, 6th grader Betina Hart, 3rd grader Olivia Harb and 5th grader Samantha Patterson compete on an undefeated XCel team for the Napa Gymnastics Zone. In the world of horseback riding, we have several equestrians including Maddie Tempkin and others who train several times a week at barns around the county.

What is perhaps most impressive about these students with the grace with which they balance their schoolwork and the demands of the highly competitive arena in which they compete. We enjoy hearing about their accomplishments.  We have surely missed other student athletes competing at a high level. Please let us know so that we can include them in future coverage.
