Girls Basketball Off To Strong Start

The Presentation girls 8th grade basketball team won its season opener 32-4 over Sunridge School. Every player scored, and the team played with great intensity, especially on defense, throughout the game.

The 7th grade girls also won their opener 35-23 over SICS. It was an exciting game and the girls showed terrific determination and teamwork.

The 8th graders play next on Wed. 2/19 at home against Mark West Charter School. Game time is 4 pm. The 7th graders play the same day at home at 5 pm against Rincon Valley Charter school. The entire school community is urged to come out and cheer. You can always tell if there is a home game by the green flag flying outside the school office.

Golf Tournament Date Set

The date of Presentation's annual Golf Tournament has been changed to Friday, April, 25. We have also changed the venue, this year it will be held at Eagle Vines Golf Club in beautiful Napa Valley among rolling hills, babbling creeks and shimmering waterfalls.

This year our tickets will be $190 (includes: golf, lunch, driving range, putting green, two drinks while on the course and a fantastic dinner). Or you can join us just for dinner for $50 and perhaps join in the fun at the afternoon clinic for non-golfers.

Not only have we changed the date and venue but our shot gun start scramble will now have a new twist to it. Friends, family and prospective parents are welcome to join us as well!

Presentation Spellers Head to County Spelling Bee

Last week, we held our 4th-6th grade Spelling Bee. Early rounds were held in the classrooms and then our nine students nominated to compete in the finals were asked to competed through more than nine rounds of words! The two winners, 4th grader Lucca Sebastiani and 6th grader Natalie Sandoval will be representing Presentation at the County Spelling Bee on Wednesday, February 26 at Corona Creek School, 1851 Hartman Lane in Petaluma from 4:30-6:30pm.  Good luck Lucca and Natalie!

Good luck to our students!

7th Grade Enjoys Castle Field Trip as Part of Studies of Medieval Europe

Last week, our 7th grade traveled back in time (although only as far as Calistoga) to visit Castello di Amorosa.

This 121,000 square feet castle is an exact replica of a medieval castle with 107 rooms with four separate levels underground and four levels above.  It took 14 years to construct the castle using historically accurate medieval building techniques. The end result is an "authentic" 12th- and 13th-century Tuscan castle with a drawbridge and moat. The frescoes in the Great Hall and Knights' Chamber are hand-painted, some 8,000 tons of Napa Valley stone hand-chiseled, the Hapsburg-era bricks, hand-forged nails and chandeliers, and 500-year-old fireplace all tediously imported from Europe.  The biggest hit with our students was the "torture chamber."

Showing the Love for Valentine's Day!

While our students were home with their families on February 14, they enjoyed a pink, red and purple free dress day and Valentine's Day activities at school last Thursday.

Preparations Underway for Friday's White Out Dance

Our Student Council has been working hard on preparations for this Friday's White Out Dance for the middle school.  Decorations are up, chaperones have stepped forward, guests have been invited and the DJ is working on the play list.  Our winter middle school dance should be a lot of fun.  Students can buy their tickets in advance at the office. The dance is this Friday from 6:30-9pm.

PERKS Coding Class a Big Hit

Our after-school coding class, taught by Scott Walthard, has been so popular that a second session was added. The students are working on age appropriate coding sites and Scott has been amazed by how quickly even our youngest students are picking up programming basics.
8th Grade Service Project -- Clothing Drive  for FISH--
Underway Now
Please take a moment this week to see if you have unwanted gently used clothing items to contribute to Genaro Pamatz's clothing drive for FISH.  Genaro had the idea to collect items for Friends in Sonoma Helping (FISH) as his 8th grade service project.  There is a collection bin right by the office door.  You can read more about his project there as well.
