My 8th Grade Service Project
By Catherine Flaherty

For my 8th grade service project, I am giving the gift of music to children with cancer at USCF Benioff Children's Hospital.

Ever since I was little, music always spoke to me. Whether it makes you happier than you already are, or lifts you up into a world of your own, it is always there when you need it. Which brings me to my point: What if we could give music to those struggling? What if we could give music to those fighting cancer?

My idea was to create a website from which anyone can donate to purchase supplies such as iPods, headphones, and iTunes gift cards. I wanted it to be easily accessible for anyone who wanted to give the gift of music. With all these ideas swarming in my head, I knew that it was the perfect idea for my 8th grade service project!

Luckily, UCSF Benioff was extremely accepting of this idea, and willing to help me... my idea was put into motion!

Since then, my dad has helped me build a website (http://musichealsme.net) and I have chosen what goes on it and what specific items UCSF needs. UCSF has a music therapy program already, and we have been working together to put the pieces together in order to make this project go hand-in-hand. We want this to be a huge success!

And here is where you come in. I need your help to change a child's life. If you choose to donate, please know that any amount is greatly appreciated. Your money will be used to buy iPods, headphones, and iTunes gift cards, all of which will be given to the children at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.

Save The Date:  WInter Celebration

On January 16th, The Presentation School will celebrate its first annual Winter Open House.  We will be inviting prospective new families to this event.  We want these families to see what great kids and families we have at The Presentation School! We can't do that with out YOU! Think of who you might invite to our Open House, friends are welcome and encouraged!

In addition to attending the Open House, we are also looking for a few families willing to "host" a welcome table.  Love our school?  Want to help others discover the difference of a Presentation School education?  Click here to let Tracy know you would like to join the OpenHouse Welcome Team!

We look forward to seeing all our families, so mark your calendars for January 16th at 6pm.

Presentation 7th Grader Performs in the Nutcracker
Congratulations to 7th grader Amanda Jue (center left) who performed this holiday season in the Napa Regional Dance Company's Nutcracker. The ambitious dance company stages the The Nutcracker each winter.   This full length classical ballet production has become a local favorite and a winter tradition for all to enjoy!
