Greetings!

Message from Scott Parker:

Thank you to the ENTIRE school community: 8th graders, drivers, decorators, hosts, sponsors, home hosts, home sharers, artists, merchandise purchasers, and especially NANCY BEI! An incredible amount of work goes into making this school tradition warm and festive.

We look forward to next celebrating the Christmas holidays with you at a new All-School Presentation Christmas Celebration on Dec 19 at 6:30 pm.
Parent Input Sought on Survey Issues

Over these weeks before Christmas break, we are sending out to parents a number of brief surveys.  They serve several purposes, and are valuable to us as a school because they give us a way to start some fruitful conversations around key elements of school reflection and improvement.  They are conversation "starters."

Presentation will undergo its fourth WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accreditation process in the 2015-2016 school year.  We want this important work to be inclusive of as many voices in the school community as possible.  Your participation is very important.

These first surveys will be purposefully open-ended.  Each should only take a few minutes to complete.  They will become more refined and specific over time.

You will be sent a link (via Beehively ) to the following surveys:

  •   Mission Statement (12/3)
  • Parent Organization/Volunteering (12/9)
  • School/Event Calendaring  (12/15)
Click on the word Mission Statement to complete the first survey.

Home Tour a Huge Success

Another lovely Holiday Home Tour is past and the feedback from the community was terrific.  The houses were gorgeous, the food was delicious (thanks to Doug MacFarland and Ramekins) and the boutique had fantastic holiday shopping options.

A big thank you to our Chairs, Rosemary McNeely and Dawn O'Neill; and to Committee Chairs Therese Nugent, Yalda Teranchi, Beth Reilly, Dyan James and Rebecca Henley.

Thank you as well to our 8th graders who helped out with this event in several different ways.  Some students were hosts and hostesses at the different houses in town, while some students helped out at the luncheon and boutique at Ramekins.

Kinder Blog Post - Hanukkah
By Audrey and Scarlett

On Wednesday we celebrated Hanukkah in class. Our dad brought Hanukkah gelt (chocolate coins) and story about Hanukkah. He lit the menorah with us. We lit 8 candles and one for good luck. We celebrate that the Jews only had enough oil for one night but instead the oil burned for 8 nights. We had a big Hanukkah feast and of course Lakkas with applesauce (if you wanted it) and sour cream (if you wanted it). After we ate we played dreidel. We are so lucky that in our family we celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas. We wanted to write the Hanukkah prayer but Mrs. Miller doesn't know how to type it in Hebrew so if you see us at school ask us and we will say it for you.

Presentation Grad News: Renee Serota, Class of 2013

Presentation Grad Renee Serota, class of 2013, is a freshman at Marin Academy.  Together with SVHS freshman Sofia Serbicki, Renee has just completed a community service project to earn the Silver Award, which is the highest award for this age group in Girl Scouts.

The girls have created a Teen Leadership Council which will advise the Library Board on teen activities and projects, and promote teen involvement and volunteer opportunities at the Library. Their advisor on this project is Clare O'brien, the children's librarian. The Teen Council will meet once a month, and is open to students who live in Sonoma Valley between the ages of 13-18. Any teen can apply to join by talking with Clare at the Library desk.
