Renowned Arts Educator Eric Booth to Present to Parents and Work with Students on Dec. 10

We are truly fortunate to have renowned arts educator and consultant Eric Booth coming to Presentation for both a Speaker Series event (open to the community) and to spend the day with our parents and students.  Mr. Booth's schedule on Dec. 10 is as follows:

8:30 - 10:00AM "How to strengthen the creative capacity in children.  What parents and schooling can do." Creativity-Focused Experiential Workshop / Fireside Chat for Parents

  • Topic: unleashing creativity, developing creative confidence

  • Smaller group / Limited number of participants

  • Open to Presentation parents ONLY

10:30 - 11:30AM "What is in your creative tool bag?" -- The basic skill of coming up with ideas. Workshop with Lower School Students (grades K - 4)

 

LUNCH 

 

12:45 - 1:45PM "Creativity -- it is a skill, and you have it!  How can you get even better?" Workshop / Talk with Upper School Students (grades 5-8)

 

6PM - 8PM Speaker Series: "The Overlooked Solution: Prioritizing What We Know About Motivation and Creative Learning"

Topics:

  • What do learning environments that promote curiosity and creative thinking look like  

  • How to nurture essential skills of creative engagement, such as flexible thinking, empathy, brainstorming, inquiry and multi-sensory learning

  • What we can learn from arts education about fostering intrinsic motivation and creativity

  • Why creative engagement and intrinsic motivation are key to flourishing in life and work

Note:  There is an additional opportunity to hear Eric Booth in Sonoma.  He will present: "A Vision for Sonoma: The community development possibilities of El Sistema" at the Sebastiani Theatre on Monday, December 9 at 6pmMr. Booth will discuss the potential of El Sistema in Sonoma and the vision for a community network of youth orchestras. The night will conclude with a brief performance by the Valley Vibes Orchestras, an El Sistema program at El Verano Elementary. All are invited! No registration required.

December Hot Lunch Orders Open Now

Please take a moment this week to complete your child's hot lunch order form for the month of December.  All orders need to be in at least 36 hours in advance for your child to get a lunch. 
GLEE Club Performs at Pet's Lifeline Fundraiser

Member of Presentation School's GLEE Club, under the direction of 7th grade parent Vanessa Ronglien, performed this past weekend at a Pet's Lifeline Fundaiser.  Way to go girls!
Grandparent's & Special Friends Day a Big Hit

Thank you to our students, faculty and staff who worked together to make the recent Grandparent's & Special Friend's Day such a terrific event.  We enjoyed meeting everyone's extended families and our guests seemed to have a great time!

Sonoma Academy Open House:  The last Sonoma Academy Open House of the admissions season is Dec. 5 from 6-8pm.  
 
Presentation Students in Ballet:  Presentation students Laura Couchman, Morgan Taylor Dalcamo, & Mia and Sara McDermott  are performing in Sonoma Conservatory of Dance's winter ballet at The Sebastiani Theatre.  There will be two matinee performances of The Snow Maiden: A Russian Wonder Tale of Love and Magic on Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8, at 1:00 p.m. Bring the whole family for an enchanting afternoon of dance.  Tickets are on sale now at www.SonomaDanceStudio.com, $22 for adults, $17 for students and seniors (62+).
