Admissions Update from Tracy Walthard:
Come Join The Admissions Team!
Admissions
This year we have several new and exciting events to help showcase our amazing school and fabulous students.  We could use your help getting the word out!  Please stop by the office to pick up a stack of postcards.  Drop them at your doctor's office, gym, and work.

The Admissions office has been busy showcasing our new Kinder program.  The Sneak Peeks have been very well received, with the first two sold out, and a third added by popular demand.

Did you know that many of our classes are full and several have wait-lists?  The news about The Presentation School has gotten out!  Let's not keep our school a secret, share this information with your friends and neighbors. If they are considering The Presentation School, space in most classes is limited, so they need to act quickly.
December Hot Lunch Orders Open Now

Please take a moment this week to complete your child's hot lunch order form for the month of December.  All orders need to be in by Saturday night in order for your child to participate in hot lunch the first week in December. Sushi, chicken skewers, soup and a sandwich.... aren't our kids lucky?!
8th Grade Tackles Yearlong Service Projects

This year our 8th graders are completing a year-long service project of their choice. The project started with a formal letter of intent and poster to describe and promote their project. By the end of spring, the students will have completed their service hours along with a research paper.  In May, the 8th graders will put together a portfolio and presentation to showcase their experience.
Presentation Welcomes Another New Family!
We are very pleased to welcome a new student to our 6th grade class.  Jake Danon started with us on Monday.  His parents are Mark Danon and Dana Adams.  If you see Jake and his family around campus, please give them a warm welcome!
4th Graders Create 3D California Maps
and Practice Spanish Off-Campus

Our 4th Grade class started their California history unit with the four regions. Students learned about the coast, mountain, desert, and Central Valley regions. They also discussed California's borders, neighboring countries, closest ocean and California's natural resources. The class ended the unit by making salt dough replicas of California's regions and borders.  Stop by the library to take a look at these very colorful, detailed and creative 3D maps of the State of California.  You will never look at a pizza box the same way!

In Spanish, our 4th grade students recently studied vocabulary related to produce and shopping at a market. The class went on a field trip to Sonoma's Friday morning Farmer's Market on November 15th, organized by Kathleen Byrne (Lower School Spanish Teacher). Students had the opportunity to practice using their Spanish language skills as they greeted the vendors, asked prices, and engaged in purchasing fruits and vegetables.
8th Graders Finishing Up High School Research, Shadowing, Admissions Testing and Applications

If our 8th graders seems a little bit preoccupied these days, it is because they are in the thick of the research and soul-searching involved with choosing a high school. Presentation has invited every high school in the area to present to our students and parents, and most of the class has shadowed at one or more high school.  Pictured above is the recent info session at school by Principal Kathleen Hawing of Sonoma Valley High School.  An informal poll of our 8th graders found the highest numbers of applications being submitted to (in addition to SVHS): Justin-Siena High School in Napa, Marin Academy in San Rafael and Sonoma Academy in Santa Rosa.  Good luck 8th graders!
Spanish Students Feast at La Hacienda

In what is now a beloved annual tradition, our 8th grade students last week headed up to La Hacienda Restaurant for lunch with our Spanish teachers.  All ordering was done in Spanish as was most of the lunchtime conversation!
Presentation Students Compete
on Regional Swim Team
Congratulation to the Presentation students who compete for the Sonoma Sea Dragons team, out of Agua Caliente.  The team swam at the big  Fort Bragg meet recently (against teams from throughout Northern California) and all of our swimmers did great! Mary Minigan and Ella Dedmore swam their 1st 100m (IM) individual medleys and  both had VERY good results and Isabella and Atticus improved on all of their past competitive times.
