Dear Presentation Families,
I look forward to seeing you next weekend at the Imagine event!
While the school year feels like it has just begun, Tracy Walthard, Lauren Miller and I are already turning our attention to admissions for next year. You are our best ambassadors for our admissions outreach efforts. Please help us spread the word this year about our terrific kindergarten program. This week you will receive a special eNews email about upcoming Sneak Peek kinder mornings for prospective students.
Please forward the email you receive this week to any and all of your friends who have preschool children. Thank you!

There is only one week until our "Evening in Hawaii"!!
As you enter into the Hawaiian paradise you can grab a drink at one of the two bars, bid on silent auction items, play the wine toss, rest in the lounge, and chat with all your friends. Excitement is building for our Golden Paddle and Birdcage drawings! The dinner, dancing and the auction are not to be missed!
Our Fund Need at the event will be technology. This is not about the devices we put in our children's hands, but the "flexibility in learning" that is possible when technology is paired with great teaching. Presentation's commitment to preparing young people for a leading role in the 21st century involves appropriately equipping them with the relevant skills to use technology wisely. Our Fund a Need goal is $50,000. Your support will take us one step further in engaging students in their own learning.
Our wish list:
· Additional Chromebooks (1-1 laptops for middle school and an additional mobile laptop cart for the lower school)
· Smart boards and tablets for lower school classrooms
· Relevant professional development for faculty
· Increased IT support
Thank you in advance for your support!

Kinder Blogs About Breadmaking
From Wilder: Today we made bread with special ingredients. With salt and with dry milk and we used sugar and water and butter. We put it in the bread maker. The bread maker made the bread...it did all the work! We got to look at it in the window during the day. We then ate the bread. It taste good and crumbly.

Presentation Welcomes New 7th Grader
The 7th grade class is excited this week to welcome a new student from Russia, Liza Glushkova. Liza is the first student to join us since we became the only middle school in Sonoma approved to accept foreign exchange students through the U.S. government's SEVIS program. Liz lives in town with her family's friends, the Lonies (Bobby is in 5th grade). If you see Liza (center in photo) around campus, please give her a warm Presentation welcome!

Please Give To Food Drive! Our middle school Service Learning Elective is running a food drive starting this Monday through Friday, Oct. 25th. They are seeking any non-perishable food and/or blankets or clothing that we can donate to the Redwood Food Bank.
There will be three collection cans set out. One for the main building, one for Upper Grades and one for Lower Grades.
Our students seek to increase awareness of the fact that hunger is a year round struggle and not just something that exists throughout the holidays.

7th Grade Enjoys Week at Oregon Shakespeare Festival
The seventh grade students braved the elements as they sat beneath the stars and were mesmerized by the Ashland, Oregon Shakespeare Festival productions. The field trip was a tremendous success!
Students participated in an interactive workshop focused on the central theme of "status", a meme appearing in all the plays we attended. A tour of the facilities, including time on stage at the Elizabethan Theatre was a highlight for students and chaperones alike.
This year students saw A Midsummer Night's Dream, Cymbeline, My Fair Lady, and The Heart of Robin Hood. Many students expressed a desire to come back to Ashland with their families. A special thank you to our chaperones, who make this kind of experiential learning possible for our students!

8th Graders Study Physics Using Marble Mazes Science teacher Katie Faircloth reports that last week in science our 8th graders were building marble mazes to demonstrate physics concepts. Students examined the math that is involved in physics (velocity, acceleration and distance). Next week, the students will be testing Newton's Laws using their marble mazes.

6th Grade Break News Ground with Field Trip to Camp Sea Lab
Our 6th grade was extremely fortunate this year to be our inaugural class to visit Camp SEA Lab in Monterey. Camp Sea Lab seeks to foster lifelong excitement, scientific understanding, and stewardship of our coasts and ocean by providing quality marine oriented programs that promote science, education and adventure for students and teachers.
Our students had the chance to get out, on and in the waters around the Central Coast! They were encouraged to dive into learning in the interactive "classroom" of our natural environment. They also gained knowledge and insight on how to preserve and protect the marine environment unique to the Monterey Bay.
