Dear Presentation Families, We are excited to see all of our parents on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, for BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT. You will have the opportunity to see your children's teachers, hear about the incredible work the kids are doing in class, and meet some of the newest additions to the school. We have divided the evening up into Lower School (grades k-4) and Upper School (grades 5-8) presentations. Below is the schedule for the evening: 6:00-6:30pm Parents of grades K-4 meet in their child's classroom. 6:30-6:50pm ALL Parents meet in the Activity Center (This brief presentation will be to welcome everyone, introduce some new and familiar faces, share community news and upcoming events). 7:00-7:40pm -- Parents of grades 5-8 meet in their children's homeroom to receive an overview of the curriculum in each grade (Middle School Science Teacher, Katie Faircloth, will rotate through the 6-8 grade homeroom presentations to share what the kids are working on this year). 7:40-7:55pm -- Parents of grades 5-8 (as well as the 4th grade parents who are doing math with the upper school) will visit their student's Math class (your child's Math class and location will be clipped to the information you receive in each homeroom). SOME ADDITIONAL, IMPORTANT PIECES OF INFORMATION/PLEASE READ - We are starting on time. Coordinating a back to school night for a k-8 school is a challenge. Lower School presentations will begin at 6:00pm and end by 6:25pm. The All-School presentation in the Activity Center will begin at 6:30pm. The Upper School presentations will begin at 7:00pm.
- Come early enough to park your cars. The school has hired parking attendants to make sure that you can all park on campus in a timely and organized way. Please don't park on Broadway - when you enter campus, you will be guided where to park.
- We are having an informal gathering after your class visits. Because we are moving you quickly through your student's classes, we want to invite you for a beverage and snack after you are done. Wine and cheese will be shared in the Activity Center.
- This is not the night to talk to your student's teacher about your particular child's progress. We have asked the teachers to stick to a tight timeline and we want to make sure they can do so. Conferences will take place in October, and you are always encouraged and welcome to reach out to teachers to arrange a time to meet and discuss your child's experience.
-
We will be offering child care in the library, run by our 8th graders. There will be a tip jar with all money going toward their Washington, DC trip.

Our first volleyball games of the season are Monday at 3:45pm for our 8th grade and 4:45pm for the 7th grade, at our gym. We also have home volleyball games on Wednesday at 3:45pm for the 8th grade and 4:45pm for the 7th grade. Watch for the green flag outside the office to know there is a home game that day.

Middle Schoolers Start Fall Electives
Our 6th, 7th and 8th graders choose a new elective every trimester. The classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30pm to 3:15pm. This semester's choices include:
- Guitar
- The Art of Songwriting
- Open Art Studio
- Garden Cultivators
- Yearbook (pictured here)
- Student Council/Leadership
- Service Learning Projects
Our students really enjoy these opportunities to learn about something new, discover a new passion or explore a skill they have never tried before.
If you have a great idea for a new elective (or perhaps have a skill you are eager to share) please email Vickie Carroll at vcarroll@presentationschool.com. |

Imagine an Evening in Hawaii on
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12
Please remember to purchase your tickets for our Imagine an Evening in Hawaii event. We would love for you to enjoy an evening "island style".
Food will be prepared by our own kindergarden parent Chef Doug MacFarland of Ramekins. There will be a chance to win beautiful pearl and diamond earrings as the birdcage item. The live auction items are coming together nicely and we will soon be sharing them with you.
If you can help in any way: set up, clean up or donations, let us know as we all want this fun event to benefit our kids!

SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
PERKS: It is not too late to sign up for our terrific PERKS classes. Click here to download the schedule and course descriptions.
Altar Servers Wanted: Students - if you are an alter server in your parish, we would LOVE to have you share the same with our school. Please let Mr. Parker know if you will help with our liturgies at school too.
Yearbooks: While we are still early in the school year, now is the time to order your school yearbook if you want to take advantage of a discounted price. Click here to place your order.
School Directory/Beehively: You can download the the school directory here. When you do so, you will notice that information is missing for some parents (perhaps you?). Families with missing information are urged to log in TODAY, HERE to update their information. Teachers will communicate homework assignments with you and the students until we are sure the system is up and running the way we want it. Note that this is our primary means of emergency notification, so if you do not list your phone numbers, you will not be able to be reached by the school's emergency notification system. If you cannot log in, please email Laura Wallace at lwallace@presentationschool.com
Emergency Cards: Please get your yellow emergency cards in. Even if nothing has changed we need a new card every year.
Barn or Storage Space? If you have some extra space in a barn, shed, garage or warehouse, we are looking for a place to store our art display boards, as well as some set pieces for theater. These boards currently live on the stage and they are preventing us from using the space for drama and music. Please contact Laura Wallace if you can help us out with storage.
Sports: This will be a busy fall for Presentation athletics with volleyball, cross country, climbing and tennis seasons underway. Click HERE for the cross country permission slip. All Presentation athletes need to download the concussion information and waiver form HERE. Click HERE to learn more about our rock climbing program.
Credit Card Billing: We urge all of our school families to complete a credit card authorization form and simply check the box, "charge my credit card on file". Doing so enables all future lunch orders, field trips, event tickets and sports signups to be billed to your card effortlessly. And you will still receive a complete accounting of the charges. Just complete the form and return to the business office. Click here.
