Reader's Book Fair TONIGHT Benefits Presentation School

After dinner tonight, please grab the kids and join us for a new kind of book fair to benefit The Presentation School.  From 6pm to 9pm, 15% of every purchase made at Reader's Books on East Napa Street will be given directly to Presentation as a donation.  What a good time and good reason to do your holiday book shopping for your children, family and friends tonight.

We'll provide refreshments and look forward to seeing you all there! Thank you to Reader's Books for this great opportunity.

Collecting for Our Troops
Troops
For the 4th year, The Presentation School is collecting items that will be sent directly to our Armed Forces troops around the world, and especially to Afghanistan and Iran.  A list of items needed is available in the office but typical items include gum, hard candy, playing cards, paperpack novels, small toiletries, socks, etc.  Please consider making this important gift to our soldiers, sailors and Marines possible.  The deadline is THIS FRIDAY - all items may be brought directly to the office.  Any questions, please contact Ms. Fischman.
Bake Sale to Benefit the Garden This Friday After School

This Friday will be the Parent's Association's second Garden Bake Sale. We will have samples of the special Christmas tins that are available to pre-order for the December bake sale. These tins will be filled with fancy items such as peppermint bark, fudge, etc.  The last sale raised over $200.  Come and enjoy!  Donated baked items are needed.  Please email Carolina Salmonsen at csalmonsen@msn.com to help out!
The December Hot Lunch Form came home in the backpacks but is also available here.
Great Job Presentation Student Ambassadors!
Ambassadors
A big kudos to our new team of student ambassadors who helped out throughout the morning on Grandparent's and Special Friends Day. These 7th and 8th grade students interviewed for the position, were trained and will also be helping with Open Houses and tours throughout the school year (most are pictured here).
Presentation's Annual Holiday Home Tour, Lunch & Boutique December 14
Home Tour
Hostesses, drivers and boutique helpers are needed for our much-beloved Holiday Home Tour & Boutique at the Lodge at Sonoma on Broadway.  Please contact Nancy Bei in the office if you can help out before or during the event.

New families... this is an event that you are not going to want to miss. Home tours begin at 10am and there are two luncheon seatings at 11:30am and 1:30pm.  The tour and catered lunch are $75.

                ChristmasShortsF

Tickets to the Christmas Shorts play, which will run the evenings of Dec. 6 and 7, are on sale now in the school office.  Also, there is a sign up sheet in the office for volunteers and for some prop and costume items we are looking for. This is Tech Week for our student performers and they are logging long hours with Mrs. Miller to make this a truly special performance that is appropriate for all ages!
Music Mini-Show and Demonstration Next Friday 7:30am

On Friday, December 7 from 7:30am-8:20am in the library, there will be a follow-up mini-show and demonstration during which time students who have never taken instrument lessons as well as experienced students are encouraged to come and check out various instruments and to meet and ask questions of acclaimed professional musician Aaron Redner and Leta Davis (who runs Sonoma's Green Light Orchestra).

For more information, email kirstennflaherty@gmail.com.

THE THANK YOU BOX

A big thank you to the first grade moms who organized the gorgeous and lavish food and beverages for our Grandparent's and Special Friends Day as well as Sharon Neves who spent several hours taking beautiful photographs of our families.  The day was truly special thanks to you.

Mrs. Wallace would also like to send a big thanks to Chris Eisenberg who comes in every Wednesday afternoon to help out in the office.

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Ballet:  Sonoma Conservatory of Dance (formerly Sonoma Ballet Conservatory) will soon offer their annual performance of  The Snow Maiden, a Russian fairy tale of love and magic.  The show will be held at the Sebastiani Theater the weekend of December 8th and 9th, 2012 at 1pm. This is a  wonderful opportunity to give your children exposure to a classical and modern style of ballet dance, and will feature dancers 6 years old and up.

Concert:  Asante Children's Choir from East Africa is scheduled to perform at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church at 16290 Arnold Drive at 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 1st.  The Choir will perform traditional African and American worship music, as well as African Folk Songs, drum music and vibrant dance. The choir is made up of 20 children from Burundi and 4 children from Rwanda, ages 7-15 years old. They are on tour of the West Coast to raise support for children back home and to raise awareness of the desperate needs of children in Africa. Many of the children in the Choir are orphans or have parents who are unable to care for them. In spite of the severe hardships most of them have faced, they inspire people with their bright smiles and the joy of their hope. Many describe their performances as extraordinarily moving and even life changing. The concert is free and open to all.

Open House:  San Domenico, the day and Monday-Friday boarding all-girls boarding school in San Anselmo, is having an Open House on Sunday, December 2 at 11am.  To attend, rsvp to admissions@sandomenico.org.
