It is the season of goodwill as Christmas is fast approaching. For those of us in the stereotypical 'West' the sight of gauche Christmas decorations are ubiquitous in all of the shops and stores.Yet, way down beneath all of this gaudy glitter is the real message of Christmas - that of peace and goodwill to all. It is also a time for GIVING.To all Christian Rotarians, I would suggest this is an ideal time to make a donation to your Rotary Foundation. To all atheists or agnostics, it is still the perfect time to make a contribution to our Foundation. And to all of those who follow different religions and cultures this is still a great time to make that gift today. For, as Rotarians, it is in our DNA to give.For it makes no difference what time of year it is to the young baby crying through malnutrition in central Africa nor the young child struck down with deadly disease in the slums of India. There is still conflict and warfare wherever we look on this planet and things are not going to change soon. Christmas is an irrelevance to them.Halfway through our Rotary year, we may be beginning to think about the New Year. Let's give 2013 a real welcome by giving just that little more to The Rotary Foundation.With love and peace
