Warners Bay Community Garden
LETS START DIGGING!
Sat 18th Oct 2014
9:00am start
 WBCG Bunya Park
Greetings!

It's been a long time coming, but it is with great pleasure we can announce that our first official works for the Warners Bay Community Garden will be taking place on Saturday 18th October at 9am in Bunya Park.

As per the DA consent conditions, the first step for Stage 1 of the project is the installation of a sediment fence. This will extend approximately 70 metres across the lower edge of the garden site so there's lots of digging to be done. The fence will remain in place whilst the swale is being constructed and planted out in the coming months.

The only requirements to participate in the construction are as follows:

  1. Review and sign the Member's Pledge (available online here or onsite on the day)
  2. Renew your membership (payment instructions here)
  3. Attend a short work & safety briefing on the day 9:15am
  4. Ensure you prepare appropriately such as having covered footwear, a hat, sunscreen and drinking water etc.

Walking or cycling to the garden is preferable but if vehicular travel is your only option, please obey the street parking signage and do not park on residents lawns / driveways. As a guide, this map indicates preferred parking locations.

There will be a complimentary sausage sizzle lunch so bring the family and join in the celebrations. A limited number of free seedlings will also be available on the day for members, so get in quick! Tomatoes, basil, pineapple mint, mint, rosemary, curry plants, lemon grass, lemon balm and sage

WBCG Greenhouse at Warners Bay

Seedling growing at our Warners Bay greenhouse for our October Market Stall

We send a huge thank you to Amir and Jenny Antebi for allowing us to operate our greenhouse on their property in Warners Bay. We have been growing seedlings here since August 2012. Our seedling growing and market stalls would not have been possible without this greenhouse.

Another big thank you to our members and all who help grow the seedlings, work on our market stalls, collect milk bottles, make our seedling baskets and all of the other jobs involved.

Thanks also to John who maintains our greenhouse and transports our seedlings and equipment to market stalls.

Our greenhouse is now closed as we prepare to move to our larger greenhouse at Mt Hutton. Seedlings produced at Mt Hutton will be used in our community garden and market stalls.
