SchoolEleebana Primary School Visit to WBCG
A recent excursion by 300 students from Eleebana Primary School was a fantastic opportunity for local children to learn more about the plans for the community garden in Bunya Park. An overview of the garden plan was provided which prompted many curious questions, though the thought of being able to partake in wood-fired pizza generated the most enthusiasm.
The children were then provided "virtual veggies" to plant in the ground. Pictures of a variety of vegetables, fruit and herbs were available for the children to plant and they were challenged to work out which garden bed their respective plants belong. The chili pepper proved to be the most challenging... (technically, its a fruit).
Many of the children spoke to the garden volunteers about their own veggie gardens at home. It was very encouraging to hear how their own veggie plots produced a variety of food for their families. It is hoped that we can accommodate more schools visits like this in the future and perhaps plant some real seedlings in garden beds. The committee would like to thank all the volunteers and teachers that helped with the excursion and hope to see you again very soon.

FestivalSuccess at Living Smart Festival 2013

Our fourth Living Smart Festival proved to be our best stall ever. Check out the gallery for pictures from the day. Thanks to WBCG seedling growers, paper pot and basket makers, greenhouse volunteers, and those who helped pack and transport our seedlings and special thanks to stall volunteers - Luke, Linda, Kathleen, Paul, Steve, John, Trish, Helen, Dorothy, Patricia and Adelle. Also thanking our members / friends / customers who have supported WBCG seedling stalls since 2009. All income from seedling sales will go to help build our garden.

WaterJoin Our Water Watch Team
We have set up a small team to monitor the water quality directly downstream of the future community garden in Bunya Park. Regular baseline readings are now underway but its not too late to become involved. Members have the opportunity to be trained in how to measure water quality through the Catchment Management Authority's Waterwise program. Test kits and training are provided free to us and testing is on a monthly roster basis. If would like to be involved, please contact us for more information.
