Warners Bay Community Garden
Greetings!

We hope you're enjoying our regular newsletters and we look forward to seeing you soon!
WBCG Members Greenhouse

Conditions apply so please contact Trish for details.

Available FREE to members.
Raise your own seedlings!

The new greenhouse recently constructed will soon be open for free use by any WBCG members.

We're currently growing a large number of seedlings in the greenhouse for the upcoming Living Smart Festival but after that, we're extending an invitation to all members who would like to make use of the space to raise seedlings for their own use or to share with other members. The greenhouse is located on private property in Warners Bay.
Get your veg off to a great start this spring!
 Development Application Update

The response to LMCC for further information regarding the DA is progressing. Despite what was reported in The Star recently, the community garden was not rejected by council. The DA is still under assessment. It is unfortunate we've had to endure this process for so long and that the perception in the community is that the garden has stalled.

Our resolve to create a Community Garden
has never been stronger. It WILL happen!

If you would like further information about the DA, please feel free to attend our next public meeting. Everyone is welcome.

Living Smart Festival - Speers Point
For the third year running, WBCG will participate in the Living Smart Festival.

Speers Point Park
Saturday 15th September

You can pick up a wonderful selection of seedlings. We also have grassheads and a lucky ticket prize of a Can-O-Worms worm farm (a big thank you to Bunnings Belmont for generously donating this prize). Our DA and plans will be on display as well so pop in for a chat. We need volunteers to work on our stall for an hour or two. Please contact Trish if you would like to help. For further information visit the LMCC website here.
Milk Bottles Needed
Clean 2 and 3 litre milk bottle bases are needed for seedling carriers at our market stalls. Please cut base off at mid line on bottle. Bottles can be left at our meeting on 5th August or with Trish at 30 James St Warners Bay. We appreciate your support. Contact Trish 49471821

Grassheads Grow a Grasshead
Make a grasshead for our stall at the Living Smart Festival on 15th September.
Kits will be for sale at the festival and we need some growers to make a start on some for our demonstration display.

Womens Refuge Working Bee
The working bee at a local refuge for women and children was an outstanding success. The refuge is establishing an edible garden for the children to help them to learn and understand the benefits of gardening and growing their own fruit , vegetables and herbs. The aim is to create a harmonious , productive environment that is sustainable year to year.

Thank you to the staff for making WBCG feel so welcome and for providing the delicious sausage sizzle. For more pictures taken on the day, visit our photo gallery.
