Working Bee - Sunday 27th March!

WBCG will be constructing a new veggie garden for the children at W/B Early Learning Centre on Sunday 27th March.

Join us to learn how to put together the pre-fab corrugated metal garden bed. We'll put the garden bed together, fill it with soil, and mulch it ready for the children to plant seedlings.

Time and volunteers permitting, we'll also give the parents and children a hand to weed and spruce up the existing gardens.

All tools and materials provided. Please remember your sunscreen, protective footwear, a bottle of water and a hat! We'll have some gloves available for those who need them, but feel free to byo.

9am volunteers arrive, finish at 11am (estimate only)

Garden Progress
The WBCG committee is currently working with Chris Gilmore from GHD and Gerrad Everson from Octopus Garden Design in putting together the Development Application (DA) for the community garden in Bunya Park on behalf of the group (and all the future users of the garden).

The next step will be to meet with council officers and discuss all aspects of the submission.
This is mainly to see if council staff need any more information from us. After that meeting, the application will be formally submitted.

Council will then undertake a thorough analysis under its usual internal development assessment processes. This includes public exhibition and consultation.

We will then just need to wait for council's final decision on the proposed garden.

We'll keep you posted.

Milk Bottles!

Are you collecting milk bottles for our Market Stalls? Just remember to cut the tops off and rinse them out! The bottom half is what you need to save. These are used for carrying seedlings home from the stall, by the many lovely people who purchase our seedlings at the Markets!

Milk bottles are being kindly stored by Adam, so please drop yours off to him at: 1/25 East Street, Warners Bay. You can call Adam on 0412 309 303, or please click here to email.
Volunteers Needed!

Fancy putting the monthly newsletter together? More volunteers are needed! It's easy and can be done online over a number of weeks, in a team if you like!

We currently have 3 monthly seedling growers. Sometimes 2 or 3 others contribute. More are very welcome and needed.

We have 2 potmakers who prepare newspaper pots for our seedling growers. More are very welcome and needed.

We need more stall volunteers so that the same people don't need to be at the stall each month. It is  fun and social day, and just an hour or two is all that is needed (between 7am and 1pm on the 2nd Sunday of the month).

If you can assist with any of these roles, please contact Trish via email (click here).
