LIFE HAPPENS HERE!
Wichita's hub for arts and entertainment is Downtown.
Downtown Wichita is full of exciting events this weekend! Whether you want to view and purchase local art, exercise for a good cause or expand your waistline by eating delicious chili in the middle of Douglas Avenue, Downtown is the place to be!

In honor of the 25th anniversary of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Wichita, the race has moved Downtown to WaterWalk. Many businesses and shops are turning Downtown pink, art galleries are participating in Final Friday for the Cure, and teams are competing in the Chili Cookoff in honor of the anniversary.
FRIDAY, SEPT 26
Wichita Boathouse from 4 - 8pm

In honor of the 25th Anniversary Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure the Wichita Boathouse will be hosting a Pre Party for the Cure! Event admission is free and open to the general public. The event will include shopping, art from local artists and food trucks serving yummy treats! Donations for the Susan G. Komen Foundation will be accepted at the front door.
Various Venues from 7-9pm

To help Komen celebrate their 25th anniversary and the move of the race to Downtown, select galleries are a "Final Friday for the Cure" location. Final Friday for the Cure venues feature works by a female artist, use the color pink in their works, the subject matter may be related to Komen Race for the Cure, breast cancer, or a portion of the sales for the evening may be donated to the Komen Foundation.

SATURDAY, SEPT 27
WaterWalk at 7am

The Komen Wichita Race for the Cure was started in 1990 by the Junior League of Wichita. The Wichita Race was the first Komen co-ed Race and the 4th in Komen's history. In 1993, the newly established Susan G. Komen For The Cure Mid-Kansas Affiliate assumed control for the race from the Junior League of Wichita. This year, there will be a 10K, 5K (both competitive and non-competitive), a 1 Mile Fun Walk, Sleep In for the Cure and Kids for the Cure. All races will take place at WaterWalk.

Participants of the Race for the Cure will receive a 10% discount at over 40 Downtown area restaurants and retailers. View the full list
