Midwest BeerFest 2013
Saturday, September 21  1pm
 
The Grand Tasting, from 1-4pm will be held at Century II's Expo Hall. This event will feature more than 350 beers, the 4th Wingfest and Silent Auction benefitting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and the 2nd Special Beers Reserve Room. The Grand Tasting tickets are $40 and entitle participants to tasting mug, program guide, and a key to the world of beers. Admission to Wingfest is $5 with admission to Beerfest. Learn more

Dash & Dine 5k to benefit United Way of the Plains is a 5K run/walk starting at Old Town Square, to Exploration Place, to Keeper of the Plains and back. Enjoy delicious food at the finish line as you enter Runner's Village in Old Town Square where different vendors will hand out samples of food. Learn More

Beauties and the Beers will be held at River City Brewing Company and will be an event focused on exploring the world of Pale Ales. School of Rock presents Michael Jackson vs. Prince & Arena Rock at the Orpheum Theatre. Tickets are $10. Support aspiring local musicians while enjoying great music. The first show starts at 7pm featuring the best of the late 70's and early 80's Arena Rock. Second show starts at 8pm. Learn More

The Prairie Fire Marathon needs you! On October 13, Wichita will CATCH FIRE with the Prairie Fire Race Series which happens in Downtown Wichita but this event cannot happen without volunteer support. Any adult (16+) is eligible to volunteer, and there are a number of fun jobs to be done. Visit the Prairie Fire Volunteer Page to sign up today and be ready to catch fire on October 13!

If you were unable to attend the Pedestrian Master Plan open house last week, you still have opportunities to share your thoughts and provide input for how walking in Wichita can be improved. Take a moment to fill out the online survey, which takes 10 minutes or less. Also, help identify places you frequently walk, destinations you walk to, difficult crossings, missing sidewalks, and other things that impact your experience walking in Wichita on the interactive map.

Jason Gregg is moving Greek Shop from its current location to 214 S. Commerce, near INTRUST Bank Arena in October. Gregg sees great potential in the Downtown area and is excited to expand his business. Currently, Geek Shop does technology repair and research. Gregg has big plans for the new establishment with a 1,000-square-foot gaming lounge and 1,000-square-foot internet cafe. Read article

Wichita Festivals recently sold its current space, 1820 E. Douglas to the Alzheimer's Association in order to move closer to the Downtown area. Wichita Festivals's goal is to be "right front and center" with Downtown property and this move is the first step. The group wants to collaborate with people who are working on developing the core of downtown and this move can help. Read article
