Islip Animal Shelter
210 S. Denver Avenue
Bay Shore, NY 11706

Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Pet Center will be hosting their annual Shelter's Choice Awards fundraiser and adopt-a-thon, where adoptable dogs will walk a red carpet to accept their edible bone-shaped awards. All adoption fees will be paid for by Live.Love.Bark, the shelter's non-profit volunteer group. Each pet will also go home with a free adoption goody bag full of toys and treats. The shelter's application process still applies. Guests will be able to "Meet the Stars" and take free photographs with the dogs. There will also be local vendors selling their products, food vendors, raffles for purchase, and a live musical performance by Carrie and the Cats. The shelter will be offering micro-chipping for pets for the low cost of $25 per pet. Dogs must be on leash and cats and other small animals must be in a carrier. If an animal has a history of aggression or being overly fearful the animal should be muzzled beforehand. Please leave your pets at home for this event unless they are getting a microchip. If they are getting chipped, please do so and bring your pet back home to ensure the focus remains on the adoptable dogs.  List of events: 11 - Fundraiser begins; 11:30-12:30 - Doggie red carpet award ceremony; 12:30 -2 - Meet the Stars! Meet and take photos with our award winning dogs; 1 - Live musical performance; 2 - Raffles drawn; 3 - Fundraiser ends.  For more info click here or call (631) 224-5660.
