Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Pet Center is hosting the Shelter's Choice Awards on Saturday, August 8th, from 11 am to 3pm. This event is an adoptathon, featuring FREE adoptions for approved applicants. This event is sponsored by Live.Love.Bark Dog Rescue. It will also offer $25.00 microchipping for dogs and cats, a DJ, photo booth, local vendors, food, a training demo, raffles, merchandise and of course, the red carpet walk and award ceremony! ALL adoptions, dog or cat, will be paid for by Live.Love.Bark. Any pet that has been waiting a year or longer goes home with a free bed, bag of food, toys, and treats! At 11:30 am, Live.Love.Bark Directors will be giving a training demo, showing you what the shelter dogs work on every Saturday. The red carpet walk and award ceremony will begin at 12:30 pm. Come watch the adoptable shelter dogs walk the carpet, and receive awards. (Stay tuned for information about voting for your favorite shelter superstar!) Raffle winners will be announced at 2:00 pm. You must be there to win! Please leave pets home unless they are getting microchipped. For those getting a microchip, dogs must be leashed, cats must be in a carrier. "Woofstock on the Branford Green" is a free, all-day music festival, designed to assist the non-profit Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford Connecticut rescue, rehab, and rehome community pets. Our family/pet friendly festival is open to all and will be filled with fun activities on top of the music from 12 Noon to 8PM. Oustanding musical lineup throughout the day includes the Woofstock Hippie Dog Costume Contest (free to enter - top 3 costumes win prizes), a Woof Walk that can earn a rescue up to $1,000, children's activities including hula hooping, face painting, a Moonbounce, dunk tank, over 60 vendors for shopping, 5 food trucks, and much more. Fun family friendly day, and all dogs are welcome! Entrance is free but there is a suggested $10 donation and/or donations of animal shelter needed products like: rawhide bones, pet toys, footballs and soccer balls, bleach, paper towels, 40 gallon trash bags, cat/rabbit/bird food, etc. Call Ken Engelman 201-638-7141 or email: [email protected] for more information.

Come meet a few of our adoptable dogs with some of their favorite volunteer handlers. This site is just one mile from our shelter; plan to visit the shelter as well to see all our dogs and cats.Summer is here; it's a great time to be out walking your new fur friend or letting them enjoy backyard sprinkler and kiddy pool time. Let a formerly homeless kitty blossom into your new indoor furball in safety and air conditioning. All our animals are dewormed, vaccinated age appropriate, altered, and microchipped; dogs are HW tested as well. 

Applications accepted @ this venue; processing will be done @ the shelter. Please bring landlord contact and veterinary info where applicable, and contact info for @ least 2 unrelated references who can be reached. Approved applicants need photo ID confirming address. We have begun our "Summer Of Love" with waived adoption fees for approved applicants. Chloe and Portia are two sisters who were rescued with three other rabbits who were abandoned in a wooded preserve in Baldwin Harbor. They have a strong bond with each other. These twin tails are ready to hop into their forever home!
