Central Pine Barrens Commission Public Hearing on Kent Animal Shelter Rebuilding Plan

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

3PM

Southampton Town Hall

116 Hampton Road

Southampton, NY 11968

The Central Pine Barrens Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, March 18 at 3PM at Southampton Town Hall on a proposed new facility at the Kent Animal Shelter. The Kent Animal Shelter has prepared building plans and gotten approvals from all agencies concerned, except for this body of local elected officials and appointees. This is the second time the shelter has been before the Central Pine Barrens Commission, and rebuilding plans have since been redesigned to accommodate requirements. Even if the Central Pine Barrens Commission grants approval for Kent's plans, however, the Pine Barrens Society has indicated it will litigate to prevent rebuilding, saying the shelter doesn't belong there. Please attend to show your support for Kent Animal Shelter. For more information about the proposed rebuilt call (631) 727-5731.

Please come down to the Smithtown Animal Shelter and meet Wayne. Wayne is a handsome 9 month old grey & white DSH. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. Wayne can be a little shy at first, but he loves attention!

Onyx is a sweet 5 year old boy who has fast become one of the staff favorites at the shelter. He is a "soft player" in doggy playgroups and enjoys people of all sizes! Onyx loves to cuddle, hug and go for walks to "anywhere" with you! He would be a great family dog and loyal sidekick!
His only dislike is cats. Come and meet this handsome guy!  Southampton Animal Shelter, 102 Old Riverhead Rd West , Hampton Bays, NY 11946

Casanova #9976 really is a lover. Two years ago this 4 year old AmStaff mix was rescued with three other dogs from deplorable conditions. Scarred by bites, underweight and housed in a travel crate; he has blossomed with good vet care, attention and affection of staff & volunteers. Casanova has been going to events because he really enjoys meeting people, like most other dogs and seems to be timid around cats.

Poor Sophie This 5yr old DSH was surrendered with 2 other cats & a dog when her owner lost her home. Sophie had a very difficult time adjusting and was so timid that all her housemates have all been adopted and she alone remains. She tested negative for aids/leukemia, has all shots UTD and is spayed. Sophie is coming around - she's very low key, loves other cats and while Sophie doesn't like being picked up, she loves to play and get pet.
