Call to Action for
Kent Animal Shelter!
"On Wednesday, March 18th, the Pine Barrens Commission has scheduled a hearing to decide whether or not they will grant the shelter a permit to build a new facility on its current location. We need to get as many letters of support as possible for the planned project. Please help us in writing to the Commission or email Julie Hargrave who compiles the correspondence for the Commission and ask anyone that you know including all of the volunteers to do the same. If at all possible in addition to letters, we need people to show up at the Southampton Town Hall at 3 pm on the 18th of March for the hearing. The more people, the better.
Thank you, Pam Green, Kent Animal Shelter"
You can mail a letter in support of Kent to:

Adoption Corner!
Introducing Betty & Wilma, Bea, Remy & Acorn!
Betty & Wilma are two senior Labrador mixes. They were found wandering the streets of Long Island by a town shelter. Little Shelter has since taken them in.
Betty and Wilma are typical Labs - fun-loving and very friendly! They are lively girls, about 10 years old. They are the best of friends, and we are seeking a double adoption - 1 family to adopt both of these girls.
For more information call or stop by Little Shelter: 33 Warner Road Huntington, NY 11743 (631) 368-8770 ext. 21 www.littleshelter.com
Bea is a sweet female Bulldog mix who is about 6 years old. She is a happy girl who loves her butt scratched and will smush right into you. She enjoys being outside and being able to run and stretch. She'd be good with kids and tested well with cats but she needs a home without dogs.
Bea is at the Town of Islip Animal Shelter.
210 S. Denver Ave Bay Shore, NY 11706

Lovely Remy #7814, a sweet brindle terrier mix found herself homeless at age 7. She is now "working" our front office but longs to be back in a home. Remy is used to infants, teens, adults, other dogs - and adores people. She is house & crate trained, knows basic commands, and is even accustomed to bathing, grooming AND car rides! This dog sounds like the perfect dog for first time owners. We even think she could live with a cat! So please don't let this older gal wait any longer. Remy deserves her happy, forever home and soon!

Shelter 3320 Beltagh Ave. Wantagh, NY 11793

Why is Acorn still waiting for someone to love? It's been a whole year since this gentle girl was brought to the shelter as a stray! If you are looking for a quiet walking companion, Acorn might be just the dog for you. Once this shy girl gets to know you, she warms up nicely following our handlers around and leaning in for lots of petting. She takes treats softly and knows the commands for sit, down and more. Acorn would like to settle into a calm home with that special someone to love and call her own
Acorn is available for adoption at:
Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter, in cooperation with The Shelter Connection 75 Marino Ave. Port Washington, NY 11050
