LI-DOG Meeting - Getting More Places to Take Our Dogs
Thursday, September 18, 2014
7 - 9 p.m.
Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library
999 Old Country Road
Plainview, NY 11803
Join LI -DOG at their next meeting on Sept 18th at 7pm at the Plainview Library to find out how you can help get more dog parks on Long Island or would like to be able to walk your dog in the local park. LI-DOG has had great success in getting dog parks opened all over LI, as well as on leash access to several parks, but there are still many parks, beaches and other public areas which are off limits to our 4 legged friends. Right now, we are working on several campaigns to gain more access to parks in Nassau County as well as several town parks including Huntington, Hempstead and Oyster Bay. We can always use assistance and support from local dog owners. Changing the anti-dog policies on Long Island isn't easy, but together we can get it done! RSVP by clicking here.

Adoption Corner!
Introducing Miss Gray & Bella!
Miss Gray, #4656, a beautiful 4 years young G/W bully mix. Picked up by police in late April, Miss Gray's very stressed in the shelter resulting in weight loss. This pretty girl is a champ at fetch, runs, walks and time outdoors. Miss Gray enjoys the company of other canines, is calm at busy events and would love a home (kids ages 10 years and up). She is happy to share her food, toys and treats, does well on a harness due to her strength, and is a true snuggle bug craving human contact. She's ready for her next adventure.

Bella, #6090, is a beautiful senior DMH, G/W tigercat. This poor older kitty was rehomed twice then landed in the shelter due to new babies in both homes (causing Bella anxiety). She was displaced, confused and does not understand why she's been abandoned. Bella is friendly but seeks security in her kitty teepee; when confident, she likes being petted and stroked. She will sit on one's lap purring but prefers to not be picked up or have her belly and legs handled. Bella would be a great match for a quiet home of adults or older teenage children.
Both Miss Gray & Bella are available at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter 3320 Beltagh Ave Wantagh, NY 11793 516) 785-5220
